Did the APs lose their numbers (and path)?

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

Looking at Seven Dooms for Sandpoint, Hellbreakers, and the store pages for upcoming adventure paths, it looks like none of them are labeled by number. I understand the necessity for numbering the AP volume with the softcover books because you want to find them more efficiently when doing online searches and make it easier to put them in order on the bookshelf. However, wouldn't numbering the hardcover books provide simplification of reference for collectors, allow quick organization on the shelf, and make another point of citation in discussions?

Maybe people would not want to put the volume number on the spine, but it might be useful to at least add that information on the product information/table of contents page of the book. As time goes on and the APs have more complicated level ranges (1-9, 5-14, etc.), numbering could also assist in making succinct lists of which AP volumes can be linked together and in which order.

at the very least Hellbreakers was still labelled as AP222 within foundry, so i don't think the numbering has gone anywhere.

I imagine there's also a desire to avoid people seeing these high numbers on hardcovers and thinking they're an insurmountably numerous straight throughline of immediate sequential adventures, rather than pretty much just order of publication you can play in pretty much whatever order

2 people marked this as a favorite.

One the back cover it lists the product number (PZO15222 in the case of Hellbreakers). 15 indicates it's a Remastered adventure path, 222 tells you it's the 222nd AP book.
It's not as obvious as having the number listed on the side, but it's something.

For the record, 1st and 2nd edition APs were numbered 90###. Paizo changed the product line number with Remastered, but continued with the book numbering.
