The class fantasy designed around hunting specific monsters with the ability to claim specific energy types, traits, etc. However, if you're starting at level 1 you only get 1 free selection of trophy. I can see this becoming a big YMMV variance in player enjoyment of the class if their player agency on build load out is wholly decided by the GM/Campaign creature allowances.
To resolve this, I think there should be a minimum number of free open ended trophy selections that you get at key levels. The trophy description already allows 1 trophy at L1 and every 2 levels after for PCs that start at higher levels. It would make sense to bake this into the class as part of the L1 trophy feature that you can get these trophies every 2 levels regardless of what monsters you can hunt.
If you don't do this you'll end up with a similar problem as the investigator, where at some tables "Devise a Stratagem" is 'always a free action, but at others its 'always an action every round'. When too much of the class power budget is left up to the GM and/or campaign it leads to feel bad moments that could have been avoided.
