Hi all,
I'm currently developing a Starfinder 2e campaign. It's not a full homebrew; just a custom written story taking place in the Pact Worlds.
As I've been writing, I've become enamored by the First Ones as explained in the Galaxy Guide: the original inhabitants of Aballon, creators of the anacites, now mysteriously disappeared. Next thing I know, these beings now play a pivotal (though elusive) role in my campaign's story, which I'm very happy with so far. Long story short, I'm planning to explain their disappearance and motivations in my campaign, and I doubt it will align with Paizo's own plans.
If you'll excuse what might be an obvious question: Am I going to regret this? Is it ill-advised to mess with canon right away? This is my first time writing my own RPG campaign so I'm treading lightly. If I was messing with small details I wouldn't be writing this post, but it seems to me from the GG, GM Core, and what I've skimmed of the SFS Scenarios, that Paizo have some concrete plans for the First Ones. I mean, a crashed First Ones vessel appears to be the focus of SFS Season 1.
I know the attitude for GMs is generally "It's your game, do whatever you want," but I just want to make sure I'm not making a big mistake in eschewing perfectly good story material from Paizo, and invite any recommendations and precautions.

Let's be honest here: Do you think that you will ever revisit the First Ones with that same group ever again? Because if you believe that you got enough other material to mess with, then do what you want.
What I like about the SF-Setting is, that it's written for RPG. It's meant to give some hints and settings and let GMs play with it afterwards.
If you are concerned, think about it as an alternate universe, it's SciFantasy after all.

Thanks for the insight. You're right, I highly doubt I'd ever revisit the First Ones after this campaign. I'll keep going with what I've got. I appreciate the help!
