Put this together for an upcoming Nintendo-themed home campaign, and figured I'd share it here. The concept originally started when I wanted my party to explore Sarusan, then it became an isekai adventure, and now it's a whole new thing I'm using Pathfinder, Starfinder, and Battlezoo to capture. Hope you enjoy!
Welcome to Windfish Wake and the surrounding isles! It is the second age since the end of the era of shadow, when the sun's light was swallowed by a great demon, and monsters roved the earth. The stars have returned to the sky, the sun and moon chase each other beyond in an untouchable horizon, and the land wakes once again. For this world is a living world. It remembers, shifts, changes and evolves - yet nothing is ever entirely forgotten. For this world is also abundant with a creative force known as the Nintendo: a life energy which watches and reacts to the goings-on of the creatures living on its back. With love and wonder, so too does Nintendo flourish, where conflict likewise brings sheer cliffs, jagged rocks, and burning sands. No matter the intention that drives it, this is a world that loves stories.
Yet there is also something very wrong with this world. Far across the waves, beyond the Alolan Isles and pirate-choked Kilvasi Mantle of the Phantom Sea, there brews a great storm. It is harkened by some as destruction incarnate, the wrath of an entire world for injuries sustained too long; for others, it is a singularity, a chance for true change in a land where fate is so easily cast across the whims and machinations of gods. For this storm is not merely divine inspiration - it is, in actuality, its opposite. This storm is a breach in the divine matter, unthreading the very seams of reality to expose the Unown Code that weaves all that is together, and all that can be. Those who touch its power may find themselves inexplicably filled with cheated might, deformed and pixelated beyond recognition, or flung like a ragdoll across space or time. It is impossible to predict just how the breach will react when one is exposed to its purest elements - and that has only added to the mystery of this place, a strange marvel rumored not only to be subtly warping the fabric of Windfish Wake itself, but to be connected to other wills beyond it, and even to other worlds. This anomaly has thus been dubbed the Warp Zone.
Fortunately, worlds and mysteries abound in places without the Warp Zone's reach, here in the wake of the Windfish's sea. Its denizens have loosely divided their world across ten great territories, although the landmarks and boundaries of these regions may shift with the ebb and flow of the land itself, always in subtle motion.
