Hello all. For half a year now I've been running a 5e conversion of carrion crown. Until recently it was a pretty easy conversion and a mechanically fun game to run. But in book four the bad guys started to feel like piles of hp or just not very interesting. And the conversion to make them interesting in a pathfinder GM level felt like work. So we converted the game back to 1e.
Anyways, my question is about book five. Due the the large number of npc's and backup characters (from raise dead breaks) the party split into two groups. The main party with the players went after the Illmarsh dark rider at the end of Book three, and the npc party went after the other rider to Caliphas. In my game the npc party meet up with Quinly and started looking into the vampire problem. But due to bad luck Quinly died and the three npcs either died or were changed into various undead. The real party does not know this.
In this game, Kendra stayed with the party and became romantically involved with a pc at the end of Book 1. She later gets turned into a vampire after the Kendra/Quinly party fails. Her 5e build was mostly wizard but the party had her dip into Warlock. So in 1e she's a wizard (Diviner) 9 / Vigilante (Warlock) 3. Being a Vigilante, I'm gonna have her alternate identity be Quinly. She's gonna disguise herself as him and infiltrate the party at the command of her dominator Radvir Giovanni. At the final confrontation she's gonna remove her quick change mask and reveal herself working unwilling for Radvir and the party will have to stake her to save her from him.
Mechanically I've played pathfinder for years, but story wise im a little unsure of what I might need to tweak to work Quinly effectively into being a double agent. What suggestions do you have to pull this off? She's put some of her money into gear and effects to mimic rogue/ranger class features and also has a bunch of protective penumbras spells incase the party wants to explore during day. Any other ideas?
Unrelated, I found a carrion crown 5e conversion that stopped at the end of Book three, but by the time I found it i was already at the end of Book 3. I have great luck in all things.
