Low Res PDFs?

Hey folks, I don't know if the idea has been floated before (I searched and couldn't find it) but is there a way to create Low Resolution versions of PDFs? I'm just thinking file size limitations for downloading/usage on tablets and such. I love the absolutely brilliant high quality art, but I think it would be helpful to several people if there was a lower resolution option so that the file sizes for PDFs wouldn't be so big?

Wouldn't have minded that. Before I got my M4-based iPad, I spent some time poking at PDF compression tools to see whether I could render e.g. a Paizo or Chaosium PDF into something that my Kindle Paperwhite could handle non-abysmally -- without any success; results were consistently, horrifically bad. :D

They used to offer Lite versions of rulebooks and larger campaign books, but that seems to have stopped with 2E.
