Oblivion Remastered

Video Games

So, apparently, the rumors (first leaked in 2023 in court documents) of a remastered Oblivion being released is likely true.

They're announcing something related to Elder Scrolls IV on Twitch and YouTube tomorrow.

And as flabbergasting, frustrating, and weird as this move is -- because we want ES6 yesterday...and we've wanted it for years now -- yeah, I'm going to buy it. Because as much as I have enjoyed Skyrim over the years, I loved Oblivion even more. The skills mechanics may be super clunky, but the quests (especially the guild quests), and the varied environments to explore were so much better.

It's not like I have time for a new video game right now *grumble grumble*

I never got Oblivion until several years after it came out (though it was before Skyrim came out, IIRC). I struggled to get into it, though I know a lot of folks loved it, and I've never finished it. (Same happened to me with Morrowind, except in Morrowind I also just kept getting ridiculously lost.)

I've grumbled on a different thread about my irritation with remakes. Maybe I'll check this out--might be an opportunity to start over and see what I was missing the first time--but I'll prioritize new games like Avowed first, which I'm hoping to get soon.

And the announcement today is that it is out! So if you want it, go for it!

I generally agree with you about remakes (I’m assuming), but I’ve got to make an exception for Oblivion.

Here’s the trailer.

I hope it’s not bad!

Oblivion is what led me to Fallout.

That said, because of difficulty spikes and f+&!ing dungeon trolls I never actually finished it.

Still, a great game, I highly recommend it.

Of course I have Game Pass, so it's basically "free" (I do pay 25 a month for Game Pass but it's a small price to pay for The Patrick Star Game).

The game I'm most excited for is Clair Obscure: Expedition 33.

But I have an extremely busy week and a half ahead of me as my daughter turns 21 next week and I have to bake a cake and learn how to make margaritas.

If you don't get time to learn to make margaritas, Jose Cuervo Golden Margarita is a pretty decent pre-made margarita.

In other news, the laptop that I bought two years ago is already too old to play Oblivion Remastered. Bleah.
