Skill Ranks per Level: 2 + Int Modifier

Class Features

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Ritaris are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, and with shields, but not tower shields or armor.

Bonus Language: A Ritari gains Druidic as a bonus language.

Smite Corruption (Su): Once per day, a Ritari can call on nature's strength to aid her in her struggle against corruption. As a swift action, the Ritari chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is an Aberration, Undead, or Evil Outisider, the Ritari adds her Charisma bonus (if any) to her attack rolls and adds her Ritari level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite.Regardless of the target, Smite Corruption attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. In addition, while Smite Corruption is in effect, the Ritari gains a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma modifier (if any) to her AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If the Ritari targets a creature that is not an Aberration, Undead, or Evil Outsider the smite is wasted with no effect. The Smite Corruption effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the Ritari rests and regains her uses of this ability. At 5th level and every 5 levels afterwards the Ritari gains an additional use of Smite Corruption per day.

Stoic (Ex): A Ritari adds half her level on saves vs. fear effects (against fear effects that come from Aberrations, Undead, or Evil Outsiders this bonus is equal to her Ritari level).

Wild Empathy (Ex): A Ritari can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. The Ritari rolls 1d20 and adds her Ritari level and her Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly. To use wild empathy, the Ritari and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time. A Ritari can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Woad (Su): As a Ritari gains levels Nature itself begins to infuse itself into her body and soul. At 2nd level a Woad appears on the Riari's body, marking her as a champion of Nature. This give the Ritari protection in the form of + 1 Natural Armor which grows by 1 every 4 levels, to a maximum of +6 at 20th level. This ability is only active if the Ritari is wearing no armor.

Nature's Blessing (Su): At 2nd level and every even level after a Ritari gains Nature's Blessings which augments her Woad (See following post for list of Nature's Blessings).

Woodland Stride (Ex): Starting at 3rd level, a Ritari may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at her normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. Thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that have been magically manipulated to impede motion, however, still affect her.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): At 3rd level, a Ritari gains the ability to react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She cannot be caught f lat-footed, even if the attacker is invisible. She still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. A Ritari with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to AC if an opponent successfully uses the feint action against her. If a Ritari already has uncanny dodge from a different class, she automatically gains improved uncanny dodge (see below) instead.

Nature's Teaching: At 5th level a Ritari chooses an Inquisition to aid her. A Ritari may choose from any Inquisition except the Black Powder, Damnation, Order, Possession, Sin, or Torture Inquisitions. She may also elect to take one of the Druid's Animal or Terrain Domains, but she does not gain the bonus spells granted by the Domain.

Improved Uncanny Dodge (Ex): At 7th level and higher, a Ritari can no longer be flanked. This defense denies a rogue the ability to sneak attack the Ritari by flanking her, unless the attacker has at least four more rogue levels than the target has Ritari levels. If a character already has uncanny dodge (see above) from another class, the levels from the classes that grant uncanny dodge stack to determine the minimum rogue level required to flank the character.

Nature's Own (Ex): At 9th level, a Ritari gains immunity to all Poisons and Diseases.

Stalwart (Ex): At 11th level, an Ritari can use mental and physical resiliency to avoid certain attacks. If she makes a Fortitude or Will saving throw against an attack that has a reduced effect on a successful save, she instead avoids the effect entirely. This ability can only be used if the Ritari is wearing light armor, medium armor, or no armor. A helpless Ritari does not gain the benefit of the stalwart ability.

Nature's Bastion (Ex): At 13th level, A Ritari gains immunity to all Supernatural and magical Diseases and Poisons.

Return to the Earth (Su): Starting at 15th level, anything slain by a Ritari becomes more difficult to turn into the undead. Spellcasters attempting to bring a creature back from the dead using Animate dead or similar magic must make a caster level check with a DC equal to 10 + the Ritari’s level or the spell fails and the material component is wasted. If the Ritari is slain by any means and a spell caster attempts to turn her into an undead the DC is 20 + the Ritari's level.

Timeless Body (Ex): At 17th level, a Ritari no longer takes penalties to her ability scores for aging and cannot be magically aged. Any such penalties that she has already taken, however, remain in place. Age bonuses still accrue, and the Ritari still dies of old age when her time is up.

Champion of the Fane (Su): At 19th level, a Ritari becomes a conduit for Nature's Wrath. She gains DR 10/Cold Iron and is subject to a permanent Hallow effect. For the purposes of countering or dispelling the Hallow treat the Ritari's CL as her level + her Cha modifier. If suppressed the Hallow lies dormant for 1 hour, at which point it begins functioning as normal. This ability functions through death, forever protecting a Ritari's final resting place.

Cleansing the Fane (Su): As a Move Action once per day that doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity a Ritari may draw her soul into one of her free hands where it exists for a number of rounds equal to her Cha modifier + 1. A Ritari may then, as a Standard Action that doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity, may make a touch attack against any creature she has declared the target of her Smite Corruption ability (Aberrations, Undead, and Evil Outsiders). On a successful hit against an Aberration or Undead the target takes 20d10 points of holy damage (fortitude save for half, this damage bypasses DR and resistances, This damage is Maximized against creatures with the extraplaner subtype) and the Ritari suffers 20d6 points of nonlethal backlash damage and is Exhausted until she gets complete rest.
A successful attack against Evil Outsiders causes them to experience all their Actions in this life and previous, both good and ill as the Ritari's soul fuses with theirs in an attempts to purify it. They must make 2 consecutive Will Saves (same DC as the Fortitude save) , failing one shifts their alignment from Evil to Neutral and failing both shifts alignment from Neutral to Good. The Ritari suffers backlash for this attack as well, but the damage increases to 20d8 points of lethal damage if the outsider makes both saves, as the Evils of the creature overpowers the her soul.
A Ritari may return her soul to her body as a move action that doesn't provoke instead of making an attack with it, doing so does no damage to her but she is exhausted for 2x the numbers of rounds it was outside her body. If time expires before she makes a successful attack or wills it back into her body she suffers the nonlethal damage and exhaustion from Backlash.

Nature's Blessing's

Rainbow Woad: The Ritari's attacks gain elemental damage. On a successful hit roll 1d4, with each number representing an element (for example, 1-Fire, 2-Cold, 3-Acid, 4-Electricity). The Ritari deals 1d4+1 points of extra damage of the corresponding element. A Ritari may turn this ability off and on as a Free Action.
~ Prismatic Woad: When using Rainbow Woad the Ritari may roll twice and choose between the two elements, the damage also increases to 1d4+2.
~~ Chimerical Woad: The elemental damage increases to 1d6+3 and the Ritari now rolls 1d6 and adds Sonic and Positive energy to the list of elements. On a critical hit roll 2d6 for damage. The Ritari must be 10th level before taking this blessing.
Ghost Woad: The Woad's bonus to AC now counts as both Natural Armor as well as a dodge bonus, thereby applying against Touch attacks as well.
~Spirit Woad: The Ritari's attacks are treated as having the Ghost Touch property.
~~Remorseful Soul Woad: the Ritari gains Detect undead and Hide From Undead at Will Spell Like Abilities. The Ritari must be 6th level before taking this blessing.
Beast Woad: The Ritari gains 2 claw attacks sized appropriately, and a +5 bonus to movement speed when in light, medium, or no armor.
~ Feral Woad: The Ritari gains Speak With Animals as a Constant Spell Like Ability, granting a +5 bonus on Wild Empathy checks, and the bonus to movement speed increases to +10.
~~ Frenzied Woad: The Ritari gains the Pounce ability, and the bonus to movement speed increases to +15.

Silver Crusade

This is my first time making a class from scratch so any feedback or critique would be most appreciated. I'll be posting a list of the Nature's Blessings in a bit.

Silver Crusade

If the advancement track is hard to read due to how the site displays it the BaB is Primary and Fortitude and Will are the good saves

I have a few question that could help you in your design :

Why Chaotic Good? Is it a liberator paladin or a druidic battle champion? The class isn't as strong as the paladin (no spells, no lays of hands, etc) so you can allow a wider selection of alignment (Any Neutral maybe ?). I can even imagine a Neutral Evil Ritari, destroying with sadistic patience aberrations and other creatures corruption HIS forest.

The fact that the Ritari gains no armor proficiency isn't backed by class features. The monk has his Wisdom to Ac, Evasion, fast movement, etc. to balance it, but nothing here explains or balance your class fighting in shirt. Woad bonus to AC isn't enough to replace armor. If I want, i can take 1 fighter level and run in breastplate until level 20, I will have more AC than with this little NA bonus. You should give them something that make it necessary to got without armor, and the class feature to balance hit (look at the monk, replace Wisdom to Ac by Charisma maybe ?).

Also, why does the Ritari doesn't follow the normal smite/challenge progression ?

About Nature Teaching, I would personally give them their Domain at 1st level, like Inquisitor or Druid, and swap this class feature with Stoic, witch give very low bonus at 1st level anyway.

About the skills, I would give them knowledge Dungeonnering as a class skill to recognize aberrations.

You should also look at this homebrew The Feral Champion

Sorry if I sound too harsh in my comment, I am not English speaker and I have some difficulties when structuring my sentences ^^ Your concept is nice. It only needs more work to refine it.

Interesting class. Not many manage to convey a unique theme/archetype that cannot easily be with another existing class. This one stands aside, so kudo for that.

Few comments:

Return to Earth: Interesting concept, very flavorful but ultimately not very pertinent for the sake of the player since it only comes into effect after death. Also, Champion of Fane (gained 4 levels later) supersedes and invalidates it with permanent hallow effect.

Agree with Kelazan about Nature's teaching at 1st level instead of 5th. Stoic could come later if you don't want to front-load your class. Also, I'd suggest listing cleric domain first and then propose inquisitions, given that those are supported in splat books only (while domains are core).

Also, am I missing the nature's blessing?

I understand aberrations and undead being an affront to nature, but ... why is evil something against which this class has power? In a cosmology that holds evil and good as equal and opposed opposites (which is my understand of Pathfinder's take [distasteful though I find it both for RL and RP]), it seems to me this character class should have power over both ... or neither. Alternately, perhaps they'd have power over whichever one was ascendant at the time, the better to restore "balance."

Silver Crusade

Okay and thanks for the advice everyone!

First off the Nature's Blessings are a big part of the class that unfortunately I didn't put up last night, it took way longer to get everything up and I had to go to sleep, they should be up later today.

I did indeed choose a single alignment because I thought the class was powerful, but I can see putting them as any non lawful.

Yeah that does make more sense to switch Stoic and Nature's Teachings.

Hehe I forget about Dungeonnerring, will fix.

I might move Return to the Earth to be available earlier, but the Hallow effect from Champion of the Fane is only on a radius from wherever the Ritari is while Return to the Earth is permanent.

The reason Smite Corruption works on Evil outsiders is because of just that, they're corrupters, the Ritari isn't a guardian of Balance, they are guardian of Nature.

Thanks for all the critique and feedback everyone, when I get home today I'll fix the things mentioned as well as have the Natire's Blessings list up.

Maybe allow woad to apply your charisma to ac, up to your level. Then add woad Nat armor.

@Kelazan - thanks for linking the Feral Champion! I was thinking this is quite similar.

* I do like the Woad aspect.

* There are plenty of possibilities for Nature's Blessings to augment AC; improve other Ritari class abilities or create whole new effects.

* I would remove Alignment restrictions completely. Nature recognises no such thing as human-constructed morality.

Nice one Rysky.

Here's try 2 so hopeful that looks better. I'm very weary of letting the class its Cha to AC as a constant feature since it can already do that as part of it's Smite Corruption ability, but seeing as how the list of targets is much narrower than Smite Evil this does require more thought. Not having access to the higher armors is also why it got it's HD bumped up to d12's.

I like it.

Silver Crusade

huh, did not know you can edit the starting post of the thread, that'll make editing easier :3

Also thank you to everyone who likes this idea, I hope it proves useful to anyone who uses it.

Silver Crusade

Hmm yes maybe I should allow all armors, just not metal ones so Dragonhide and Darkwood could still be used.

Nature's Blessing

Fey Woad: The Ritari's Attacks are considered Cold Iron for the purposes of bypassing DR, and gains a +1 Luck bonus to AC, CMB, and CMD.
~ Sylvan Woad: the Ritari gains Sylvan as a bonus Language, and a +1 Luck bonus to AC, CMB, CMD, and Skill Checks. This is cumulative with the bonus from Fey Woad.
~~ Primal Woad: Fey creatures or creatures with DR vs. Cold Iron who successfully hit and damage the Ritari with Natural Attacks take 1d6 points of damage and must make a Fortitude save to avoid being sickened for 1d4 rounds (DC= 10+Con). The Ritari also gains a +1 Luck Bonus to AC, CMB, CMD, Skill Checks, and attack and damage rolls. This stacks with the bonus from the Fey and Sylvan Woads. A Ritari must be 10th level before selecting this blessing.
Mother's Embrace: Once per day A Ritari with this ability may fuse with the Earth (or a suitably large enough tree) in order to rest or wait. While fused in this manner a Ritari does not need to breath and is provided sustenance from Nature, as if wearing a Ring of Sustenance. Otherwise this ability functions exactly as the Meld Into Stone spell.
Star Woad: The Ritari gains Darkvision out to 30ft (this stacks with any preexisting Darkvision) as well as Detect Aberrations at Will as a spell lIke ability.
~ Darkness Woad: The Ritari's Darkvision Increases by 30ft and can use Invisibility once per day as a spell like ability. The Ritari must be 6th level before electing this blessing.
~~ Void Woad: The Ritari gains True Seeing as a Permanent ability as well as Spell Resistance 5 + the Ritari's class level vs. Arcane magic. The Ritari must be 12th level before selecting this blessing.

Silver Crusade

Slight edit, the Ritari must be 10th level before taking Frenzied Woad.

I like it. It seems fun and flavorful and fills a fun niche.

For the rainbow thing, maybe roll 1d4 for the elements at 1st tier and have the damage be 1d6 instead of 1d4+1, and at 2nd and 3rd tiers, make it 1d8 and 1d10 (2d10 on crit). Extra dice and an extra static plus is a bit odd.

Also, when posting a class on the boards, since lining up columns of numbers is so hard, I suggest using the following format instead:

The Bard

BAB: +3/4
Good Saves: Reflex, and Will
Hit Dice: 1d8

It really neatens it up.

Also, maybe list weapons, light armor, and shields (but not tower shields).

Also, have you considered giving it light and medium armor proficiency, but not metal armor (so padded, leather, and hide) like a druid. :-)

Yeah, especially since the 1d4 bit would not be multiplied on a crit, but the +1 bit would be. :-P

Maybe you are suffering from magic missile addition!!!!! :-O

Yeah that's what I was Thinking a few posts up: A Ritari is proficient with all Simple and Martial Weapons, as well as Light and Medium Armor and Shields (but not Tower Shields). A Ritari also cannot wear metal armor, as doing so interferes with her Woad abilities. Metal weapons are allowed though.

Still taking it all in, but I gotta say I like the visuals the woad mechanic calls to mind. This sounds like it could support certain characters with certain desired looks that the usual armor requirements in the game discourages.

Coupled with the "no metal armor" rule, I'm really digging what this evokes. :)

And incase anybody is wondering, yes, I am intentionally leaving what the Woad and Nature's Blessings that affect the Woad look like vague. Unlike armor and clothing which you can take on and off this is a permanent part of a character's body and as such I leave it up to the character's creator to make it look as cool as they want :3

Primal Woad should have a DC of 10 + 1/2 the Ritari's class level + the Ritari's Constitution modifier.

Or do you mean 10 + Constitution score? Usually Save DCs from class abilities scale with level with an ability score modifier as a kicker. I've seen some that are DC 10 + BAB, but none that are 10 + Ability score.

I think you need more Nature's Blessings. Some should be "always on" and maybe some that activate during a Smite Corruption. I could even see some that act as Armor Special qualities, like Fortification.

I'm not the best with mechanics but yeah the first option sounds better.

Yeah there also needs to be more NBs I'm just being very careful not to just flood this thread with a bunch of stuff that isn't very good.

Hmm Fortification = Mountain Woad perhaps?

You do know that Ritari means Knight in Finnish?
