Android Feat: Advanced Targeting System

Playtest General Discussion

Hi all. First post here. Although I'm mentioning a specific feat here, the general gist of this opinion is for a lot of feats that follow this trend. Case in point, and "advanced targeting system" that can only be used once a day is pretty pathetic. The wording suggests an built in or acquired system that is integral to the android's functioning. I get the idea of game balance, but as a player, I tend to avoid this type of feat like the plague. Their limited usefulness is a waste of a feat choice. Fellow players in my groups feel the same way, although I get there will be those who disagree. My option for this feat would be to give a +1 to hit bonus to all attacks. At 5th level (which this feat is), that's not unreasonable. Or, another angle would be the android automatically identifies all threats on the battlefield, and thus is never flat-footed to any enemy the android can currently perceive. This would include feint maneuvers, as the targeting algorithms predict all possible attack vectors (this is admittedly more powerful, so it would probably need to be a higher level feat with this option).

Worth noting that this particular feat is a copy-paste from the Android in Pathfinder, and while an innate spell a day may not feel great, it's the standard for ancestry feats. I'm personally not a huge fan of once-a-day effects in general either, though my preference would be to have a softer effect that could happen once per encounter, rather than something like a permanent +1 to all attacks (which I think would be way over the line in a system like 2e).

Just so you're aware, this is one of the best ancestry feats in the game. Sure strike is a really good spell, especially for martials. I feel like you should have those options, minor consistent bonuses, or inconsistent major bonuses.
