I would love to see a map of known space in SF2. I know that as a practical matter distance between worlds are relatively meaningless. Either Near space or Vast. But it still would be really cool to have a map of known planets and systems. I think it would make the SF Universe a lot more rich and approachable. When I was a kid i would stare at that black hexagon poster map of the Spinward Marches that came with the Traveller game and wonder about the planets, their lore, inhabitants and what it would be like to travel there. Anyways, I think it would be hella cool!!
There's a map of the galaxy (Desna's Path) in Ports of Call, but it basically just covers planets touched on in the book (and also can't be taken as being "to scale"). A map that's exhaustive would appeal to me, but has its own downsides, not least that it would need to be poster-sized to be legible without also being hopelessly cluttered.
