Kingmaker thorn ford advice

Kingmaker

I'm currently running a kingmaker (1e) campaign for a few friends of mine. Since the group is only 3 players (one of which is new to ttrpgs), I had them make lvl 2 gestalt characters.

We have a dwarf fighter/wizard, a half elf samurai/slayer, and an elf alchemist/gunslinger.

They handled the bandits at oleg's easily thanks to a color spray from the dwarf, but happs bydon ended up getting away.

I want to make the thorn ford a little bit different for them to make things both easier and harder.

Naturally, they'll have to deal with the full camp, but im going to have kressle sit the fight out. (more on that later)

I'm giving the two bandits in the towers partial cover, as well as Im making happs lvl 2 with studded leather so he can replace kressle and having him give the following orders: "Spread out! the dwarf's a spell caster. Archers focus on the elf, that stick is some kind of crossbow!"

As for kressle, im turning her into a lvl 4 barbarian based on amiri except with an axe for the dwarf. If the pc's win against happs, she'll make them a deal.

Beat her in a fight (without color spray), and she'll give them 100 gp and her axe, as well as help them when they fight the stag lord. She'll even let them rest for the night to recover from the bandits.

Im planning on having her start with dual handaxes and no rage before swapping to her axe, power attack, and rage at half health.

Any suggestions? like is this too difficult, too easy, ideas on how it would effect the story, etc?

She'll probably become an advisor and have info on the tiger lords when they get to that part, but other than that i ccant really think of anything.
