Hi all
I want to connect one of the players (cleric) background deeper in the story of the campaign. My players love when I do stuff like this. But in this case I want to create a terrible moral dilemma for him.
So this is based on the Abomination Vaults expanded document by Taylor Hodgskiss
I was thinking about letting my cleric be a relative of Zarmavdian. The family line is tainted by the Curse of Empty Death which means that when they die, the soul of that family member is trapped in one of the lenses.
The player have been researching Zarmavdian for many years and have managed to find his book, The Thresholds of Truth.
Among the spells in this book is is a incomplete ritual created by Zarmavdian. Using the Research rules they can find more information in the Vault's to complete the ritual.
When performing this ritual the player can do one of 2 things:
1. Release his family from the curse, freeing their spirits but gaining no benefits
2. Calling for the spirits of the Roseguard to aid them, thus giving them the buffs mentioned in the document. But by doing this, the souls of the Roseguard will be lost forever.
What do you think? Anything that could go wrong with this? Any tips for making it work?
Another thought I played with was giving the player another conundrum. By freeing the souls of his family he would strengthen Belcorra because releasing their souls would help her focus more on her task? That's another enticing idea. What would the player do :D :D
Any comments. ideas and tips are appreciated for making this work
