Hi! So, many months ago, I took the plunge after years of 5e and Savage Worlds and made myself a PFS character for a play-by-post here on the site. The GM and other players were great, and I enjoyed myself on the whole, but I found my character difficult to play. Wanting to keep things simple, I picked a martial class (monk) with which to start. Unfortunately, I made some character creation choices for my monk that made it tough for her to contribute in situations where she couldn’t punch something.
Fast forward to today. I want to give this thing another go with a fresh start. I see that I can rebuild my character for free because she has less than 12 xp, which is great. So far, so good.
My questions are:
1) Do I need to stick with the same ancestry, background, or class?
2) Do I record somewhere that I rebuilt her?
3) Are there any things I don’t know that I don’t know about rebuilding a character?

Prior to playing a character above level 1 you can completely rebuild them however you like.
Only thing that doesn't come back is the money spent on consumables that have been used.
Everything can be different, don't think there's any special record keeping requirements.
Thank you! That does make life easier.
I have three follow up questions for anyone who can assist.
1) Is it possible to change an avatar for an alias here on Paizo.com? I see where I can change my main account’s avatar, but not my character’s alias.
2) How do treasure bundles work? I remember we were awarded treasure bundles, but I don’t know what that means, exactly. I looked at the organized play rules, but I still don’t understand how they work.
3) If I want my character to come from the Mwangi Expanse, I would need to purchase the World Traveler Boon, right?

3) No, all characters get to choose a home region. You would need world traveller if you wanted multiple.
2) You shouldn't need to deal with treasure bundles on your end as a player, you should have been awarded gold. Each treasure bundle is 10% of the possible treasure in a scenaeio. At level 1 that is 14gp.
1) Yes from https://paizo.com/paizo/account there should be an organized play section below other alises. Click Make Changes and then Edit next to the character.

1) Your character "Webny" has posted 188 times. After an Alias has posted 10 times, the name is locked in. It's about the only thing that's ever permanent, other than the ID# associated with that Alias.
2) Back during PFS1, characters earned variable amounts of gold as they proceeded through an adventure, sometimes earning as little as 1gp less than the maximum, or maybe X less during several encounters, and tracking that loss became onerous for GMs. So now in PFS2 the maximum amount of gold is divided up into ten "Bundles", an abstract representation of treasure and coins that you find along the way, and it's so doing the math at the end is easier for GMs.
3) World Traveler is something you'd purchase if you want a character who has Access to regional options in addition to regional options from their homeland. You can just start from the Mwangi Expanse for free. If you then wanted that character to have access to something from Varisia, then you'd represent that by purchasing the World Traveler Boon for that region.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Personally I like tracking on my chronicle sheets, I did try doing it via spreadsheet once like this. (PFS1 so values look different than PFS1)
Here is a PFS2 sheet of mine (spoilers redacted) as examples.
No need to apologize for the questions. One of my favorite sayings is:
Better to ask 3 stupid questions than do 1 stupid thing.
Glad to see you're excited about PFS!
