The connection is that they were both invented by me, and I have found the idea of being infested by fungus or parasites to be exceptionally disturbing and horrifying for well over 40 years, so it was a natural source to look into when creating horrific creatures.
Cyth-V'sug was invented for my homebrew D&D game back in the mid 90s, at which point that was the proper name for Treerazer before he was exiled, but I split them into two entities when I sold them to Paizo.
Xhamen-Dor was invented for a short story I wrote back in the late 80s, but wasn't as fully into the fungus angle at that point. The fungus element came in later after I sold him to Paizo and wanted there to be a fungus-associated element in the Elder Mythos.
Their similar appearance is mostly coincidence, but happened because they're both villains that I invented to explore some of my own fears about some of nature's grosser sides.
