Changes to Special Edition bindings?

My special edition of Book of the Dead came yesterday — incredible stuff! I will resist making any "dying" puns about how much I've been wanting to read it through the delays.

I noticed that the cover and binding have significant differences from prior special editions. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GysjzgV4bbtdcsMq9

The first thing you see is that the marbled texture effect is gone. This sets the book apart from other special editions visually, but it's not really a big deal.

The spine is constructed differently and doesn't lay as flat when the book is open; this could actually be more durable in the long run? This is also why it can't sit edge-to-edge in a shelf with the other books.

The golden text appears to be screen printed rather than debossed.

All told, the book looks and feels cheaper than the rest of the special editions. I'm mostly curious whether or not this is the new normal due to e.g. a change in printing partners.
