Are dedicated computer cores worth it and if so for which actions?

Advice

Scarab Sages

I was looking at these (thought they were dedicated to a starship role) and the fact they only give their bonus to one action in combat. That for the cost (expansion bay, BP/PCU) doesn't seem worth it to me. If they added to a role e.g. any captain action it might be (still expensive) but for one action it seems like they aren't worth the cost.

Has anyone used this and can contribute an actual play based opinion on whether they're actually worth getting and if so for which actions they should be used?

Haven't used that item but i have done a lot of starship battles.

In SFS anyway You're almost guaranteed to use one of the computers on

the biggest gun in the turret to shoot

Pilot stunt

Putting one on engineering shield recharge wouldn't be a bad idea. They're almost always going to take that action.

Captain demand would also work. You don't need a computer to encourage, but you should demand each of your gunners if you can

Haven't tried this one, but the first mates action to negate the full attack penalty is both hard to make, wicked useful, and really really bad to miss by 10. An operative with acrobatics that can take 10 on it + a node that can automatically succeed is a +2 to +4 to hit for all the guns.

Scarab Sages

Hmmm so possibly useful then.
