Hello! Sorry if this isn't the right place to put this, but there seems to be lots of other questions about the OGL and Open Game Content here, so I figured this would be a decent spot to start.
My question is this, is there any reason that I couldn't use Open Game Content in a GameLit or LitRPG novel (which by their very definition include game mechanics) as long as I included the OGL and specifically marked the Open Game Content in some way (bolding them, putting them in a specific window to mark them, etc.), while just stating that everything that isn't Open Game Content is Product Identity (dialogue, characters, plot, etc.)?
I'm particularly concerned about this, because I know that Paizo specifically didn't include game mechanics in their novels because they didn't want to have to use the OGL in those novels. Is there something that I'm missing here that could make that a bad idea, other than the difficulty of having to mark what's Product Identity and what's Open Game Content?
Also perhaps a third question, are the names of spells, classes, and feats considered proper nouns for the purpose of marking them as product identity under the OGL, or are they considered game mechanics and therefore Open Game Content?
I'd really appreciate any help on this, and love how supporting both Paizo and the community is on answering the unending questions on this stuff as much as you all can. You're all great!
