Is the "Iconic Team" suitable to complete a module?

Adventures

Hi guys,

just wondering if the Iconic Characters that are presented at the end of a Pathfinder Module, are able to run it from the beginning to the end. Obviously i know they're not optimized so it would be easier to do that with a well composed party, but i'd like to know how much hard could be to play as them.

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes they will have a rough go of it. Dawn of the Scarlet Sun is fairly notorious for it being rough on the Pregen iconics, due to several factors like damage reduction that few of the PCs can deal with effectively. If you're planning on running a module, maybe skim the comments on the product page for hints as to whether the pregens can cut it.

I'd say that they are usually able to get the job done, but some may have a rough time of it.

Technically yes?

I don't know. Whereas I love the flavor of the iconics, some of the stats just make no sense. I don't need to power-game, but I'd rather take Int, Str, or even Con as a 'dump stat' before I took a low Wisdom score if I made a rogue..and Meri's 'dump stat' is Wisdom.

Perhaps its ancient tradition. Characters in AD&D with low Strength scores had to be magic-users. Characters with low Dexterity scores needed to be clerics. And characters with low Wisdom were consigned to being rogues.

Interesting. Because the first time we statted up Merisiel, her Intelligence was her dump stat, and we had folks up in arms about that as well. It's not really a game we can win, since you can't please everyone all of the time.

There's no ONE right way to make a character, and so when we stat up the iconics, we go for a combination of "average" with a dash of "personality." In Merisiel's case, her low wisdom is there to represent her reckless attitude.

I haven't seen many characters who dump Con... and every one has died before 5th level (often at 1st level)

Liberty's Edge

Raistlin didn't.

He had plot armor.

So can other PCs then.

PFS has anti-plot armor. Not only do heroes die, they don't get replaced by a new ally of similar capability at the next time of convenience for the party.

Come to think of it, I'd say PFS has anti-plot in general.

Raistlin was Raistlin, that pretty much sums it up.
