Community Use Policy: Thinking about distributing Fall of Plaguestone stat blocks. Is this possible?

Community Use

Hello, I'm currently converting Fall of Plaguestone stat blocks for a community VTT project. Some stat blocks are on AoN such as the Blood Ooze.

Can the statblocks in the back (and how they occur on AoN) be redistributed as is?

Can I convert and distribute stat blocks such as the Drunken Farmer, that aren't available in the back of the adventure and not on AoN?

Can I convert, distribute stat blocks after changing the name for the following NPCs?

* Vilree -> renamed as "Main Villain"
* The Amalgam -> renamed as "Amalgam" (well, it's an amalgation right?)
* The Behemoth -> renamed as "Behemoth" (hebraic/sumerian origin right?)
* The Sculptor -> renamed as "Orc Alchemist Chief"
* Graytusk -> renamed as "Orc Ranger"
* Hallod -> renamed as "Town Bully"

I suppose the rest isn't super relevant with regards to naming. Bee Swarm and Alchemical Drudge don't appear as special names to me.

PS: the project is not commercial, no money involved whatsoever.

Game mechanics are covered by the OGL, that is what you need to follow if you wish to redistribute stat blocks. The CUP gives you access to proper names and other setting stuff listed as Product Identity in the OGL. If you’re stripping out setting details and just keeping mechanics, then the CUP doesn’t seem applicable to you.

I suggest carefully reading though the OGL text as presented in Fall of Plaguestone (on page 64, the white column plus the Product Identity declaration at the bottom of the black column) so you know how it applies to your project and what you’ll need to include in your project to reference back to that module.

So technically I could just keep all NPC names as is when I follow the CUP?

Provided that your usage complies with the terms of the CUP, yes.

You may descriptively reference trademarks, proper names (characters, deities, artifacts, places, etc.), locations and characters from products listed in Section 1 of our Community Use Approved Product List below, provided it is clear that these are our marks.

You will want to read the full policy to ensure that what you are trying to reference indeed appears in Section 1 and that you meet all other qualifications of the policy, such as adding the disclaimer, being for noncommercial use only, and listing your project in the registry. By doing all of that, you will be able to use the names as-is (but that’s it, only the names and not the stat blocks themselves).

Your only option for using the stat blocks is the OGL so you will also need to comply with that, which includes reproducing the full text of the OGL in your product with an updated Section 15. Again, carefully read the text of the OGL to ensure your usage complies with that license.

If you have questions after having read both licenses, feel free to ask.

Yep, I went through Section 1 but wasn't sure what "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game books" includes.

Does this include adventure paths as well?

Yep, all books published for the RPG so rulebooks, APs, modules, campaign setting books, etc.

You may find this FAQ helpful as well (although it doesn’t directly answer your questions, it may answer other questions you may have down the road): https://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1fw

Thank you, you helped me immensely!
