Squeeeeee (k) loved this one

1) Is the

Spoiler:
garotte
on the chronicle sheet supposed to be there? Even for a nice chronicle sheet item those things are gamebreaking.

2) The tactics of the Final encounter really hurt these guys. Having to draw your weapons and ready defenses against an unarmed (move whack), solarion (move whack), or ranged character (who can draw /shoot)

3) For Fang

So a garrote + trick attack= attempt a trick attack vs KAC +8

Garrote +tripple attack wouldn't work at all?

4) Loved the puzzle had a reasonable bypass/multiple ways to go through it.

5) If there any penalty for doing lethal damage/ possibly killing an apprentice during the last fight? Martial types have the merciful fusions but casters don't really have a non lethal option to participate with.

This topic really should have a GM and/or Spoiler tag on it...

That said, here are the answers as intended by the author. The development team may have different responses.

Author Answers:

1) The garrote is a fun item for the PCs to have limited access to, and this is a scenario where it makes sense. *shrug*

2) Most/all of those defenses have a duration measured in rounds. I'd say rule of GM thumb: if the PCs are taking time to draw weapons before Silent Strike says "FIGHT" then the NPCs should as well.

3) Fang is more likely to use ranged attacks whenever possible. Her sniper rifle should suffice for attacks when she's not being actively targeted in melee. If she is, she can switch to her small arms weapon. She only uses her garrote if cornered, or if she is taking extra pleasure in taking down a sleeping/subdued target.

4) Yes! Good! Like many escape rooms, there's the way to get through it that was designed and ways to get around the puzzles and win anyway.

5) So... many casters have non-lethal spell options. Buffs even. If a caster has 100% deadly spells then... they're going to have a bit of a challenge. That said... there's no direct mechanical penalty for using lethal attacks, but you can RP up how much their breaking the rules and being disrespectful. Also, if they fall to negative HP, then you can have the NPC auto-stabilize and don't mention it to the PCs. It's fine.

I have flagged this one for moving to the GM forum!

Like the Wolf, I really appreciated this one from a GM standpoint! Vanessa, you did a superb job on this one!

As for the Chronicle question... yes it's correct.

However, expect some form of errata on these in the near-ish future. >_>

Trusty sighs as his chronicle item gets hit by the errata monster!

"I guess it's for the best. What would happen if the gnome found out I was using this?"

<.< As part of realizing I was nearing "the end" of my ability to run Trace with the available Tiers I just read the product blurb for this one. Between the story preview and this thread, I am very excited XD

Prepping to run this and I can't find one of the exploits an NPC is supposed to have.

Spoiler:

What is Pinpoint Weakness, the exploit that Fang is supposed to have? No joy searching for it on Archives of Nethys, or a manual search of the Core Rulebook and Character Operations Manual.

Also, Breeze the Thief operative doesn't have the Sleight of Hand skill. I assume it should be +22 like her other Hex-based skills.

@Sober Caydenite, the exploit is a special little something for this scenario. It's detailed on page 16.

Thanks, found it! I was prepping high tier, and the reference to where it is located in the low tier tactics.

@vanessa You really rocked this one! I've repurposed a significant amount of this adventure for my home campaign. I removed the side encounters and made it a straight up gauntlet earning the right to talk to Silent Strike. Our party has been on the run after a huge Infosphere campaign painted them villains and got the Stewards chasing them. This was the perfect way for them to hunt down the perpetrator and have some planar adventuring.

I rarely run things as written at my home table. I used 60-70% of this exactly as you wrote it. That is a huge compliment!

Love ya, lady! Keep kicking posterior!
