Hi everyone,
I am really unsure about a document I created and if I am allowed to publish it.
The document basically is a summary of all boons that are available to buy based on reputation tiers like it can be found on http://www.organizedplayfoundation.org/encyclopedia/pathfinder-2-0-faction- boons/ and also can be filled by the player with additional information (like achieved boon, Pathfinder Training and so on.)
Now here are my questions:
* To have a better overview I created some icons based on the faction images you can find here: http://www.organizedplayfoundation.org/encyclopedia/pathfinder-2-0-factions / (I used the full images you can find if you click on the links)
All I did there, was to decrease the size of the images, add transparency and save it as a png (So the grey background is now transparent). I also cut the grey backgrounds so that the images are all squares now, but I didn't change the actual pictures in any way. Is that allowed? Or is the modification of the grey background a problem already? Or in general: Am I allowed to use the pictures at all?
* I just summed up all the boon information from the first link (and will also refer to it in the document). Is there a copyright problem here in any way to use this information??
* It's totally okay to use the Pathfinder Society logo as long as I add the official disclaimer correct?
* How obvious does the disclaimer has to be? If I have a document with multiple pages, it is okay to just put it on the first page right? (I don't see there is enough space to put it on every page)?
Sorry, I know some of the questions are quite obvious, but I am no native speaker and am afraid I could have understood anything wrong here.
Start with going through >Community Use Policy< . Checking if you comply with the conditions and make sure the logos you are using are those from the community use package.
It also lists the exact notice text you need to add to your document.
Thank you, but that doesn't really answer my questions. I read that and I am also aware of the words in the disclaimer I have to add.
To be honest, I am quite sure from all I have read, that I am not allowed to use the icons and I guess that I just hoped that I oversaw something here. So nevermind about that, I will just use other ones as a replacement.
Also my question about the disclaimer might have been a little useless. I just wanted to be on the safe side here, but I am quite sure that I understood everything correctly here.
What is important to me though: Am I allowed to sum up the functionality of Pathfinder Society boons in my own words in the document?
The policy says the following:
You may descriptively reference trademarks, proper names (characters, deities, artifacts, places, etc.), locations and characters from products listed in Section 1 of our Community Use Approved Product List below, provided it is clear that these are our marks.
I would understand that as a "Yes" but like I said I am no native speaker and I just want to make sure I got that correctly to be on the safe side. I asked several other people about the policy rules but noone could give me reliable information here. So sorry if that is an obvious question, but I don't want to get any problems here.
Also: Are there any plans to add the 2nd edition faction icons as a package in the future?
