Hi,
Just want to make sure I understand the rules for creating a magic item correctly. Since the serums are magical, the relevant skill would be Mysticism, and since it is level 1, they need at least 1 rank in Mysticism to create the item. The serum is worth 50 cr, so they need 50 UPBs to create the serum.
What tools are necessary to create these serums?
Item creation time is normally 4 hours per item, unless you exceed the items level by 5 or more.
Lastly, assuming you had the UPBs, and whatever tools are necessary, would it be possible to craft these serums in the field without a ship's laboratory present?
Thanks!

Exact tools needed to create items are not defined. (There is an exception with the biohackers ability to create versions of serums that are not magical, which requires their Custom Microlab).
With technological items, I have seen some people consider an engineering kit and some space to work to be enough. I have seen others require an actual workshop (whether a rented space or the expansion bay on a ship).
If you have whatever tools are deemed necessary, I do not see any reason a ship lab should he required, but what those tools are needs to be sorted out with your GM, since there is no official answer.

You need basically a work bench , so a spaceship would be fine. Out in the boonies not so much.
Depends on where in the boonies.
Cooter's Junkyard and Tax Preparation in Frogpossum Holler on Castrovel would probably work just fine.

You also need your Custom Microlab in order to substitute your ranks in Life Science or Physical Science for Mysticism when crafting serums as a Biohacker. You cannot craft serums with your Custom Microlab alone, however.
As long as you are in possession of your custom microlab, you can use Physical Science or Life Science instead of Mysticism to make serums, though these serums are not magic items, can be identified using Life Science or Physical Science rather than Mysticism, and do not require a detect magic spell to attempt such a check to identify. (For more about crafting serums, see page 235 of the Starfinder Core Rulebook.)
The lab only enables skill substituion, it doesn't in of itself eliminate the other crafting requirements, including tools.
