Technomancer Esotericist Magic Hacks

Do you need to have the Esotericist archetype to take the magic hacks? Or can any Technomancer can take it regardless?


That is a good question, that ultimately can only be answered by your gaming group.

For SFS play, I wouldn't count on being able to choose those two magic hacks if you are not taking the archetype.

For my group, I would also lean toward not having those be generally available, just because of how it is grouped in with the archetype. That second one does look rather powerful.


I think they are available, much like the soldier fighting styles and mystic connections in the race sections are affiliated with but not locked to the races that they were published with. I see these hacks as merely thematically and historically linked to the esotericists, but there’s no rule to tie non-archetype replacement abilities to actually taking an archetype.

I can see GMs ruling otherwise for their home games, but it’s very much a house rule until we see a SFS clarification for COM.
