Climb / swim speed for barathus?

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Is there any way for a barathu to gain a climb or swim speed? The Versatile Movement operative exploit and Climbing Master and Swimming Master feats all depend on your land speed, which for a barathu is zero. Same problem with the Athletics skill. Can a barathu do anything underwater?

EDIT: Climbing Suckers (CRB) and Swimming Fins (Armory) augmentations give a flat climb/swim speed, but they only work with light armor, is there anything else?

Can't Barathu do an adaptation to give them a land speed(15ft "base speed")?

It's only 15ft, but the Operative Movement class ability would apply I guess so that helps.

Grand Lodge

15 ft. every 1d4 rounds for an early-stage barathu. That's something, but not a whole lot. It would be better to just tie a rope to a party member and have them drag you around.

translated to a swim speed it's probably enough to keep you bouyant without checks I guess XD

Grand Lodge

Hmmm, a dip in Blitz soldier gives you a +10 ft. land speed, which doesn't help if you want to stay single class.

Speed Suspension augmentation gives +10/20/30 ft. land speed for 1900/8800/32900 credits, which in turn allows you to climb/swim at half speed with Athletics. Only available at higher levels, but doable, I guess.

Hydrojet armor upgrade gives you swim speed equal to half your land speed, so you need that first.

Speed Suspension is an enhancement bonus to your base/land speed, not an inherent increase, so it wouldn’t help things based off your land speed.

Grand Lodge

Well, that thins down your options quite a lot. :(

Personal Submersible power armor gives you 30 ft. swim speed and 20 ft. land speed but prevents you from flying.

Barathu really ought to have a trait that allows them to treat their racial fly speed as their "base speed" for things that care about it.
