Push actions in Starship Combat

Rules Questions

Before PaizoCon I thought I was clear on how Push actions work;

They don't cost Resolve (a common belief) unless the action themselves say otherwise, and

they cannot be used if the part of the Starship is malfunctioning or wrecked (eg, if engines are malfunctioning a pilot cannot perform stunts).

At PaizoCon I played the delve with a Paizo employee for a session of starship combat, who told us that only one push action is allowed per starship combat round. Assuming the employee was an expert I took this as a given and continued employing that rule at PaizoCon afterward.

That rule makes some sort of sense, it certainly gives a lot more meaning to push actions and makes starship combat rounds go much faster, but I've not been able to find this rule confirmed anywhere in the CRB.

Was the Paizo employee mistaken, or can anyone find where this is documented?

I'll guess that's some legacy rule that got cut out from the actual game, and this allegedly employee is Confused (You are mentally befuddled and can’t act normally).

Quote:

CRB page 322

Push
Push actions (indicated in an action’s heading) are difficult to
perform but can yield greater results. You can’t perform a push
action if the necessary system is malfunctioning or wrecked.

You can argue a player can only take one Push action per round, but that's just because everybody can only take one action at all per round.

Quote:

CRB page 322

Actions
You can take one action (usually defined by your role) per round
of starship combat

That's all there is to it, no other restrictions at all.

I concur - I think this employee's interpretation is incorrect based on the RAW. Of course, if he was GM, his interpretation is correct anyway since it was his game to run. In my games, however, I'll stick to the RAW for this sort of thing, though I confess, this isn't a question that's ever come up since... again... RAW is pretty clear in my opinion.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Yea it does feel like a pre-release rule that got cut.
