I would like to run an AP for my group but would like to make sure they are all interested in then general theme and trajectory before launching into a lengthy endeavour
For context I ran reign of winter and the players were almost all uncomfortable with helping an evil being even for the “greater good” and one specifically had no interest in a “save the world” game - or at least his character didn’t . And I found out far too late
Could I get some help with designing a questionnaire of sorts to find the right AP for me group. The open ended request approach has just resulted in a “up for anything” response which I feel sure when it comes down to the nitty gritty will not actually be a true answer
I envisage something like:
- Do you want to play heroic character , scoundrels or outright evil characters (latter reduces options)
With questions then branchihg out from there. I would also need advice on how to categorise
Key things I know to consider :
- nature of chsracters
- setting (wilderness, dungeon, urban , mixed)
- theme (classic, horror ...?)
Thanks for any help

If this is the issue, you should be able to deal with it in advance no matter what campaign you choose.
But make sure you explain the concept in advance and get the players to create characters who would want to be involved in whatever the theme is.
So my questionnaire would be something like:
"I've found three well regarded adventure paths that I'm willing to run. Would you rather
(a) help build and rule kingdom
(b) battle horrific lovecraftian monsters, or
(c) travel to an exotic kingdom and overthrow a tyrant?"
