I was wondering if anyone knows of a suitable map that I can use that features a multi-level observatory or tower on a mountain with a winter theme?
I am going to run a modified version of Dudemeister's additions to the Talon Peaks (see here, including the Darkness Betwixt the Stars pdf that Dudemeister linked to in that thread) and since I run my Kingmaker game online at Roll20, I need a fairly usable map for these series of encounters.
Ideally I like to have such a map before this Sunday but I could stall my gaming map for one more week. Hopefully someone here will have a good suggestion or link to what I need! :)
Cheers!

I used the observatory map from the third book of Second Darkness ("Armageddon Echo").
Q4 & Q5 were the library with the older books being in Q5 (I didn't have a secret door).
Q6 was the room with the star charts and some books on the tables.
Q7 was "room 3" from Dudemeister's write-up with the brown mould being on the stairs in Q8.
And I had to change Q11 so that the gaps in the walls were sealed off with Stone Shape.

Huh...I didn't even think to look at the older adventure paths.
I will have to play around with the extracted images to see if I make them transparent enough to use as overlay maps and onto a snowy or mountainous terrain map.
If anyone else had other suggestions or suitable maps, I'd like to know about those too! :)
Thanks, Warped Savant and Dudemeister.
Cheers!

As an update, I managed to work the Observatory map from The Armageddon Echo onto a snowy mountain peak, complete with the large steel coffins in the corner, walls of ice around the perimeter, and scrying pools and equipment on the lower level. :)
Now I work towards making the linnorm boneyard, ;)

Progress on the linnorm boneyard was stalling (mostly due to me being a perfectionist for visual details) so I went exploring on Kickstarter to blow off some steam. Imagine my surprise when I found this gem there: maps, maps, maps, and, oh wait, did I mention this? More maps than you can shake a banana at?
With these, I think it will cover just about every map for the Kingmaker AP that I would ever need for most of the hex encounters that do not already have a battle map (and then some). It takes some time to read through all of the stuff there but if I am not mistaken, a backer can get a disgustingly large number of maps (over 150) for a ridiculously low price. It's totally bananas, and the artwork is amazing.
Take a look, gals and guys, it's worth it. ;)

I use Roll20 for my games online, but if you meant what software I use to make my maps, I alternate between using Roll20, Adobe Photoshop, and GIMP (it's a learning curve for me with GIMP - it is going to take some more time before I am more comfortable with it to do custom maps - well, by custom maps, I mean using professional artists' work and adding further details or changes that matches the descriptions I want to use for my players).
I gotten better at using Roll20 and figuring out little "cheats" for myself as a DM when it comes to doing prep work and adventure building.

*bump* Because that kickstarter that I mentioned in an earlier post? 69 minutes to go before it's done. It has already achieved its campaign goal, so this is not about getting $ to make sure it's a sure thing, but rather letting GMs of the Kingmaker AP know about a honestly solid deal on getting a boatload of high quality maps (for printing OR for VTT use) that you can use for random encounters or make custom maps for set encounters that don't have their own maps (especially when you crib ideas from other DMs, ;P).
Cheers!
