Modules for PFS Credit

4/5 **

So, I *think* I understand this, but I wanted to come by in here and make sure this is correct before our store GMs start filling out sheets incorrectly.

From various citations in the PFS RPG Guide, I get the impression that modules give 3XP/4PP, unless they are Free RPG modules which are 1XP/1PP (of course, these rules are standard unless stated otherwise).

Based on the products page, I believe this is the list of Free RPG Day modules that are sanctioned:

We Be Goblins 1-4
Risen From the Sands
Dawn of the Scarlet Sun
Master of the Fallen Fortress

Those 7 aside, there are 40+ other modules (most of them sanctioned). And, newer ones (I'd say in the past couple of years) have a rules sheet in addition to the chronicle sheets that address level ranges, rewards, etc. However, for some of the older modules, the free download is only a chronicle sheet (as examples: Feat of Ravenmoor, The Godsmouth Heresy, Masks of the Living Gods).

Is the correct assumption that these modules, because there's no other information to imply otherwise, give 3XP/4PP for completion?

Thank you in advance for correcting or confirming by assumptions. :-)

I can't/won't comment on every module, as I don't have access to every single module produced. However, I can comment on the ones you listed:

Risen from the Sands: Yes, this is 1 XP, with 1 or 2 PP possible

Dawn of the Scarlet Sun: While it doesn't explicitly state how much XP or PP you get, looking at similar modules (aka, ones that are also tier 4-6, the gold totals match up. So I would say this is also a 1 XP, although not sure on PP.

Master of the Fallen Fortress: This one also doesn't explicitly state how much XP or PP you get, however, using the same formula (compare gold gained for this module to similar tiered module's gold), this one also appears to be 1 XP, although not sure on PP.

We Be Goblins: Explicitly states 1xp, 1pp. I don't have the other chronicle sheets for the other goblin modules downloaded, but I believe they are the same.

I certainly cannot comment on every single module, but MOST are 3xp/4PP.

Yes, as the download with the chronicle sheet has the extra page of rules that address this (as do the 4 We Be Goblins scenarios; they also come with rules page[s]).

Yeah, this is where I'm getting caught up. From the RPG Guide, it seems like the default is 3XP / 4P for regular modules, 1XP / 1PP for Free RPG Day modules.

Liberty's Edge 4/5

@JDDyslexia yep. The Free RPG day modules are 1 xp/1 pp.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Agent, Minnesota

Risen from the Sands is the exception at 2PP, but it's longer than the other Free RPG Day modules!

Hmm

Dark Archive 4/5

A good rule of thumb is if it's a module you can download for free, it gives 1xp/1pp (unless otherwise called out). If it's something you would normal need to pay for, then it gives 3xp/4pp. :)

Or more, as I have played a 6xp module. Is that standard for 64 page ones?

No module gives 6xp (to my knowledge).

A few of the Bonus Chronicle Sheets give 6pp instead of 4pp.

Some of the longer modules encompass three levels instead of one, and they have a bonus chronicle sheet (as Nefreet referenced) that is given out if all three levels have been applied to the same PC. These tend to be the newer modules though, that come with a rules sheet that explains how credit is applied. I think all the older sanctioned modules that have a chronicle and no rules sheet only give one level. (I can't think of one that would fall into the multiple level range, but someone could always come along and prove me wrong!)

Oh! Might you mean Tears at Bitter Manor?

That is a weird one. Two Chronicles granting 3xp each for a 3-part Module.

Methinks they were trying something new that didn't end up working in the long run.

House on Hook Street is the one I have played. Definitely 6xp

I was curious, so I just looked at how credit is given out for that. There are two normal chronicle sheets that each give 3xp/4pp, and a bonus third sheet if you apply both of the others to the same character. I guess that is similar to Tears at Bitter Manor, though I've never played either. One of these days I'll get to them...

The module I'm looking to schedule next month is Fangwood Keep. It's a 32-page module that's not Free RPG Day, so our assumption is 3xp / 4pp which seems to be correct.

Thanks, everyone!
