Maze states:
When the spell ends, either because the target escaped or the duration ran out, the target returns to the space it occupied when it was banished, or to the nearest space if the original is now filled.
If a snare is placed in the square of a maze'd creature, does that square count as filled for the purposes of maze, or do only creatures and other obstructions/objects that outright prevent entry to the square (for example, a segement of a wall of stone) qualify?

Yeah. Remember in PF1 where people would scour through the rulebooks for various edge case loopholes in order to build ridiculously powerful builds. And then how the module writers adjusted their challenge design to account for that being the normal and expected setup. And then anyone who didn't scour the internet looking for these super OP builds ended up creating characters that couldn't actually participate.
I sure remember that.

I think it's kind of silly to put burning an 8th level spell slot to make snares more reliable in even remotely the same ballpark as any of the meatier PF1 shenanigans.
... Like honestly I can't even really wrap my head around the suggestion that this breaks the game.
It's a good combo, but you're not exactly breaking damage ceilings or upending the game's math here.

This never really happened though? Published modules were notoriously easy with even a modicum of optimization because they specifically weren't written to cater to this kind of player. The parts of adventures that were broken or inordinately deadly often were because of badly written rules or janky custom mechanics than anything to do with combat optimization. Some were badly designed, but they were very clearly never written to deal with free-metamagic stacking magi or sacred geometry god wizards or cha-to-everything oracles (and even those aren't getting really deep into PF1 CharOp).

If adding a miniscule fail rate makes you feel better, we can skip the caster and just have fighter use the brutal shove feat line to push 5ft on a missed press attack to trigger the snare. Same snares, but comes online 3 levels earlier with a ranger as your snare guy. Probably stronger that way since you can layer synesthesia for that -3 to ref saves.
Helps that all this is crb and has been around for quite some time. I guess it doesn't come up much because it comes online at 12 at the earliest but more likely at 14-15.
