There aren't really clear rules on it and thus I'd have to default to the standard rules in the Tactical Section. Unless otherwise specified, activating an Item uses a Standard action at which point I would rule walking with them is very laborious and can't really be done in tactical time. The section in environmental rules only mentions Boot Clamps concerning how they effect forced movement and I wouldn't give them any other benefits past effectively rooting you in place when you get to where you want to be.
