I've been Googling around, and it's clear that skill checks based on the same die as one of the six "attribute" skills count as using that skill as well. For example, a melee skill check is also a strength check (usually), and a knowledge check is also an intelligence check.
However, I haven't found where in the rulebook it actually explains that. Can anyone guide me to the correct section?
And while I'm at it, are there any other important rules of the game I may have missed from just reading the rulebook?

Page 12 of the rulebook (I'm referring to the most recent copy of the rulebook, that for Mummy's Mask, found here):
Some cards and powers affect only specific types of checks, such as Dexterity checks, Acrobatic checks, or non-combat checks. If, on your character card, the skill you're using refers to another skill, both skills count for the purpose of determining the type of check. For example, if you're using the Arcane skill on a combat check, and your character card says that your Arcane skill is Intelligence +2, the check counts as both a combat Arcane check and a combat Intelligence check...
To correct you, though, a Melee skill check may be a Strength check. There are some characters, however, whose Melee skill is associated with their Dexterity. Similarly, a Knowledge skill check may be an Intelligence check. However, there are several characters whose Knowledge is associated with their Wisdom.
It would be impossible to answer your last question. Hopefully the answer is a firm and resounding, "no." ;)

Well make sure you:
- Read the latest version of the rules (Mummy's Mask)
- Read the generic FAQ (non card specific) for the latest version of the rules
Then:
- Read the previous but latest version of the rules dedicated to your adventure for rules specific to this adventure (e. g. ships for S&S)
- Read the generic FAQ (non card specific) for the adventure you are playing
- Read the FAQ for any card you are playing (usually it means read all the FAQ for the adventure you are playing)
Then indeed you should not have missed anything
IMHO

I read everything on this forum and still get surprised occasionally, so it's unlikely you know everything yet, I guess it depends what counts as "important". A list of "stuff people get wrong a lot" somewhere might be handy. I'd definitely put "always banishing summoned cards unless specifically the summoning card says otherwise, including that even cards which explicitly replace banishing something don't work" on the list.
