Computers and ship AIs

Rules Questions

Quick(ish) question that's as much a check of my understanding:

A player wants to be able to summon the party ship remotely. Can this be accomplished by having a computer with the planetwide range upgrade tied in to the ship's AI that then takes control of, launches, flies, and lands the ship?

Or would someone need to set up a separate upgrade?

The cost of a control module is determined by the item controlled, however ships are priced in BP so you can't pay the cost of a control module in credits.

This is problematic as the control section of the computers section specifically mentions controlling a ship, but RAW there is no way to do this currently. At least if I understand everything correctly.

Baggageboy is correct. A complex control module explicitly says you can do this, but the price is based on the controlled item and ships don't have a credit cost. It doesn't make any sense to apply a BP cost since modules modify a computer - not the device it's connected to.

I made a FAQ request for this.

At the moment, the only way you can do this RAW is if you're a high level mechanic, who gets the ability to control a ship with their custom rig.
