Gallons of meh. Maybe even barrels.
2 was funnier, but this movie is better than Minions. And I'm really glad that it wasn't "Minions 1.5." I couldn't tell if my 5y/o was bored or just her normal quasi-feral self, but I was bored through most of it. There are funny jokes, but a good 1/3 of them are austin powers levels of sequel joke recycling. Even
Bratt was a bad villain, though his gimick wasn't too bad. However, with the way the film ends, it makes me wonder how Minions 2 will plot together in 2020.
As an aside, we now have Dave, Kevin, Stuart, Jerry, Bob, and Mel as uniquely identifiable Minions. But I was a bit confused on whether Jerry had supplanted Stuart as Kevin's lover/bff/what-the-f-ever-they-are-to-each-other, as it seemed the writers forgot that Stuart and Kevin were a thing and transposed Jerry into the role.

I mildly disliked DM1 (can't stand Steve Carell), but loved DM2, and I have to admit that I really enjoyed Minions.
Toddler Gersen, on the other hand is OBSESSED with Minions -- she's seen it probably 400 times, and we have 2 DVDs full of Minions short features as well; her room is decorated with them, her 2nd birthday cake was Stuart's face, and she herself was a minion for Halloween last year. She found DM1 and DM2 to be "meh," however, so I'm leery of taking her to the theatre to see DM3, especially after the disaster of taking her to Moana (another movie she now loves):
Her (Proudly): "Mama say, 'I just wanted to take you to see Moana, but you went up the stairs and down the stairs and were crying and stealing other kids' fruit snacks, so it was time to leave!'"

I will recommend you wait for DVD/download/whatever on this one. Without spoiling too much, a plot point involves separating the Minions from Gru and they are consequently absent from a good bit of the movie.

Preferred this to D2 and I haven't seen Minions (and strangely have no desire to).
I thought Bratt was good villain (though Vector was better - would like to see him return). I laughed out loud at some of the gags and enjoyed some eighties nostalgia with the music.
Didn't think much of Dru though, and the minions could've not been in the movie at all for all they did. Lucy and the girls plot also seemed kind of tacked on.
