Online character generator for 5e?

5th Edition (And Beyond)

I'd like to generate a couple of unusual NPCs -- like, a mixed paladin / monk -- and it seems it would be easier with some sort of character generation software. Is there such a thing, and if so, is it available online?

Thanks in advance,

Doug M.

DnD Beyond will have a character builder, though apparently we're not in that phase yet.

There are a few character builders online, though I think they have limitations due to what is open source (ex. can't list all the class features for you, though they have space to input them).

I'm using Forged Anvil for the 5E games I'm running. You can get it at the EN World downloads pages, here.

(If you've used HeroForge for 3.5 or sCoreForge for PF, it works much the same way--but without all the obnoxious delays while the file processes every toggle, because 5E is so much simpler than either 3.5 or PF.)

5th Edition Character Sheet, in the App Store. Very useful app, quick leveling.

And should you do a google search you might find that somebody has made non-SRD datasets for 5e that can just be plugged into the data folder.

DND Beyond now has a character generator.

In theory I should start a new thread but the official launch of D&D Beyond is about 2 weeks out. They say all the beta stuff on there now will continue to be available after the official launch.

There was this piece from a couple of weeks ago:
New 'Dungeons & Dragons' site manages the rules so you can just play

When you're at work or in class you can look at your character, browse for new spells and read backstory anytime you want.

LOL! That would never happen. Not at work anyway.

:D

Confusingly to some WotC is working closely with Curse to produce this e-version of D&D as can be seen on the opening page of the WotC site here D&D Beyond

Therein WotC says that digital content is coming soon. Including an e-price for all published books and all previous free e-publications (aka Unearthed Arcana) for... well, for free, automatically.

Participation will be in three tiers:

Free Tier
Hero Tier - $2.99/ month is intended primarily for players
Master Tier - $5.99/ month is intended primarily for Dungeon Masters and allows sharing "unlocked" (read: purchased) digital content

I'm pleased to announce that D&D Beyond will fully launch on Tuesday, August 15th!

Digital sourcebooks (such as the Player's Handbook or Volo's Guide to Monsters) will be available for $29.99, while adventure modules (such as Curse of Strahd or Storm King's Thunder) will be available for $24.99.

For the first week after launch, the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual will be on sale for $19.99 each!

Not a bad deal. Maybe I can get my group back together?
