Spell Feat Ideas,,, Making the most of your spells.

Homebrew and House Rules

So was talking in my facebook pathfinder group and while typing up something I had a idea that is kind of based on a old 3.5 idea that I think Pathfinder should pounce on if they haven't already.

Spell Feats is what im calling it. Feat's that improve the power of a given spell. Now that sounds kind of silly at first, a feat that effects a single particular spell? A lot of people would say why not write a new spell? But feats in my general opinion seem to fit the idea of what im thinking about more thoroughly, as my idea expands the capabilities of the spell in question without necessarily raising the spells level or casting time. They are a sacrifice of a more limited resource and thus I feel that justifies them in being more powerful when used to improve something like spells.

An example of such a spell feat is Arcane Shield feat

This would would have several effects on the 1st level shield spell.

1.) You can now cast shield as a swift action.
2.) You can as a immediate action end a shield spell you have cast in order to gain double it's normal shield bonus to AC until the start of your next turn.
3.) At 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter you shield spell increases its shield bonus by +1 to a maximum of +5 at 20th level.
4.) At 10th level you can as a immediate action end your shield spell to grant yourself and your allies cover. This option provides cover to you and any allies within 5ft of you.

These options only work with a shield spell you've casted, they do not apply to spell completion items such as scrolls, wands or any other magic item that cast the shield spell.

What do you guys think? Could Spell Feats become a thing?
