Shorter APs?

General Discussion

I see the AP will have 64 pages to it. Are you able to reveal how much will be devoted to the APs story VS setting details, bestiary, etc?

Also, will there be a subscription option?

Prophet it was mentioned in the core book product discussion I believe. They are still working out the details.

I wonder if the product description on the page length is a typo since the books are the same price as for Pathfinder. I wouldn't mind losing the the fiction section and the NPC profiles, but 64 pages seems awful short to squeeze in everything else, especially if there is no separate bestiary book being published. The Core Rule Book is only 500 some pages and it is going to have to squeeze in material which would normally form the Game Master's Guide, the Players Handbook, a Bestiary, and a world setting.

Also the product description didn't say what levels the the book is for. Maybe the whole 6 books will only go up to level 12 or so.

At first I was surprised that it was only coming out every 2 months, but I decided that's probably a good idea. I can't really see that I'm going to have time to play more than one Starfinder Adventure Path in a year.

It's not a typo. They're really 64 pages. It's been talked about by Paizo before the announcement.

A typical Pathfinder AP issue, at least until Ironfang cuts fiction entirely, had 48-52 pages of adventure content, 4-6 pages of NPCs and/or items, 6-12 pages of support articles like gazetteers, 6 pages of fiction, and 8-12 pages of bestiary.

The Modules line has run at 64 pages for a while, and they manage 48 pages of adventure, 6 pages of gazetteer, 4 pages of items, and 6 pages of bestiary.

Since a lot of Starfinder products might well wind up recycling Pathfinder monsters, there's not as much pressure to have a 12-page bestiary in every issue. The full-sized NPC pages are nice to have but not strictly necessary, and we don't yet know what a Starfinder stat block looks like to know if they've streamlined or compresses their presentation.

A likely makeup could be:

2-page foreword
42- to 48-page adventure
2-page planet article
2-page starship article
4- to 8-page support article
4- or 6-page bestiary
2-page preview

With the support article potentially rolled into the planet, starship, or bestiary depending on the issue's needs.
