Flash of Insight Class Feature?

Homebrew and House Rules

Had an interesting idea, a class that tempts fate and uses foresight in combat. I might make it, in particular I'm thinking of a Cyclops inspiration, plenty of fluff there.

If

Flash of Insight:
Once per day as an immediate action, a cyclops can peer into an occluded visual spectrum of possible futures, gaining insight that allows it to select the exact result of one die roll before the roll is made. This effect can alter an action taken by the cyclops only, and cannot be applied to the rolls of others.
was a class feature, what level would it be appropriate for, and could the uses increase without too much OPness?

The Exchange

Sounds like an Oracle ability.

It should be a fairly high level ability. Being able to determine the result of ANY d20 roll is a tad broken. Even the bard's Lore Master feature is 5th level and only works on Knowledge checks.

The Exchange

I have to agree with Cyrad, it's a great idea, but seems kinda OP.

Unless, of course, if it was a 15th-20th level ability.

Yeah, I figured it'd be capstone-ish. Although the Cyclops is only CR 5. Maybe I should compare it to other CR 5 creatures...

This has already been done.

More specifically, you could acquire this ability as soon as 3rd level.

That does make sense I suppose. It is only 1/day, so it would really just be an artificial natural 20, or an automatic crit confirmation. Handy, but rather limited.

That archetype came from the Inner Sea Monster Codex, a book filled with powerful options largely for building NPCs and monster characters. The archetype has been banned from PFS. Upon closer look, the archetype also looks really good. You get access to some powerful revelations and other abilities without losing anything for the increased available options. Pretty much every trade is either equal or gives you something better than what you lost. Assume Fate is an amazing ability that fails the bag of kittens test. Brutal Trance gives you a better version of a 5th level as a supernatural ability two levels before you can normally get that spell. It's pretty much a buff over the normal oracle.

So take it with a grain of salt if you're looking to use this archetype as a measurement of balance.
