idea shall have something to do with Stargates. Just dial into that frequency with a stargate and you can go there.

Ships? pffttt! Who needs ships? They are expensive. Stargates are a more economical option.

Heh, them Elfvesies... they got themselves something like the Stargates but they call them Elfgates.

Probably wouldn't let any old, run of the mill adventurers use them much for doing anything- not anymore than what Stargate Command would be willing to do for those selfsame adventurers. ;)

You could do a psuedo SG:U and play a team of explorers who travel by ship to unknown worlds and install new gates on them. Even in Stargate they established that people had to travel to new worlds first and put up gates to connect to their pre-existing network. Flavor these teams as disgruntled Comcast employees who hate having to deal with natives who object to the quality of gate service and who really just want to get on with their jobs. (Please be ready between 8 am and 4 pm for the next 623 years for your installation team to arrive.)
