Hi! My SO just found out he was getting to GM at Gen Con. So proud of him :) I have never been before and trying to figure out the logistics of how we can join him for the con, because of course we have to celebrate and turn this into a family trip! Bahaha - like we are going to let him have ALL the fun.
We are coming from out of state and I am finding out that most rooms even somewhat close to the con are seriously $$$. But with the parking fees so steep and the long hours at the con, I am starting to think maybe we should eat the expense and book a closer hotel for at least a night or two. For the last few days of the con maybe finish out at a hotel farther away to help save some money? We will need rooms for at least Wed - Sat. And I am pushing for Sun too so we can take our time and have some R&R before the long drive home.
Any opinions, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Nicki,
I recommend loading up the car, driving down to your hotel, then unloading the car and sticking it in a parking lot that you book through ParkWhiz.com. The last two years I've parked for $21 all told (Wednesday 8 am arrival, Sunday 6 pm departure) by parking a mile away from the convention site. (Do not book for the convention; book by the day. Yeah, maybe you'll need to move your car once during the visit, but the $20-$25 for four days beats the $25 per day parking near the convention center.)
Transportation is pretty good in Indianapolis. Not only do you have hotel shuttles, buses and taxis, but you also have rent-a-bicycles and Uber.
