Currently, I'm playing two characters I can't seem to find a Faction for.
One's a LN Fighter who believes that strength is meant to fight for that which matters most to you, but has yet to discover what that is and so looks to improve himself until he knows what he wants to use his combat prowess for.
The other is a CN Samurai who simply looks to reaffirm to the world his strength as a warrior in hopes of carving his name in to history.
For the former, I'm looking for what one would call the "mightiest" or "strongest" faction.
And for the latter, I'm looking for the Faction that would be most likely to bring him in to contact with the strongest opponents.
I would post this to Faction Talk, but I can't do that without specifying a Faction to post in and I'm looking to get as much help as possible.
Any recommendations or advice?

Sounds like Sovereign court to me. Seeking to impose order on a world . Taking over the world sounds like about the toughest fight there is. Once you do once that order is established...
For the CN samurai, I'd say Liberties edge. I mean, they want you to take down an empire slaving devils with your own blade and a pack of freed slaves. Pull THAT off and you'll be a legend.

I've found the Scarab Sages to be a surprisingly good faction for melee dudes. Their actual faction journal awards are quite useful, and the goals are, while not easy for a jock, attainable. I'm having a lot of fun with an Int/Wis 10 Shoanti Thunder & Fang slayer in the Sages. He's constantly getting made fun of because he's still not (L5) learnt any dead languages.
The faction itself is also full of vaguely benevolent statements about how the wise and powerful sages will help the world without any kind of definite plans on what to do exactly, so that kind of fits your fighter too.

Thanks for all the advice folks! I've decided to let the Fighter stay with the Grand Lodge and follow the mightiest faction, as befits his nature. The Samurai, since that has been almost unanimously endorsed, is going to join Liberty's Edge.
I need to ask further, though: What kind of faction would befit a young CG pirate looking to become one of the famed pirates of the age, amassing wealth and fame/infamy beyond reckoning?
I thought The Exchange might be the one for him, but I'm not sure. Liberty's Edge seems like a good option, too, but I'd still like input from others who might know more.

The Exchange definitely seems like the most appropriate for that character, from what you have given us.
