I picked this up a couple weeks ago and have just gotten to playing it. It's a side scrolling action game with rpg character growth elements.
I've heard it described as a 2D Dark Souls. It definitely has some similarities, but I enjoy it more so far. Then again, I'm not much of a souls game fan.
Is anyone else playing?

I am liking more than Dark Souls as well! Some of my friends think I'm crazy but I think it is a great way to kill some couch time.
Also - couch coop option doubles the fun. Until you accidentally get separated and die off screen without knowing how to get your salt back.

Got a second controller today, and I have to say co-op is pretty fun. I took my housemate on a tour of areas well above his level and got him enough salt for 9lvs.
Interestingly, both players get salt and looted items equally, and the visiting player can use the hosting player's facilities at the host's devotion level.
Also items can be dropped to be taken by the other, so save powerful gear that you won't use in order to share if you plan to co-op.

Co-op bug warning:
At least on the PS4 version, if you are a guest in co-op and your host picks up a key you don't have yet, you won't get the key. This is intended. The bug is that when you return to your world, you still won't get the key if you reach it's location and loot it. You will forever be barred from having that key... Which can keep you from progressing into further areas.
Your co-op partner can unlock doors in your world though, so there is a workaround.

A co-op tactics suggestion:
Flanking helps, especially for bosses. You can use the evasive roll to get past an enemy, then you and your ally can attack from both sides. Some enemies shield block, and some bosses can have attacks interrupted. Both are doable with flanking.
I've actually felt bad for some bosses... I use a giant meat tenderizer, my housemate uses a big sword. Diced and pulverized.

There's a NG+ mode after you finish the game, you keep items, levels, and devotion unlocks. Creatures are tougher but rewards are bigger.
Also, there's two weapon styles that are dominant in the game. I won't say which unless asked because I'm curious to hear if other players reach the same conclusion. One style is the best early game, the other is the best late game. There are two nearly worthless styles as well. :P
