I picked this up a couple weeks ago and have just gotten to playing it. It's a side scrolling action game with rpg character growth elements.

I've heard it described as a 2D Dark Souls. It definitely has some similarities, but I enjoy it more so far. Then again, I'm not much of a souls game fan.

Is anyone else playing?

If I can get this from Steam or GoG, I just may!

In fact, off to check this out now...

I will be purchasing this game, glad I checked in, thanks Scythia!

Hope you enjoy it. :)

I don't' think it's available from Steam or GOG yet.

Having played a bit longer, it occurred to me why I'm liking this game: It's basically a metroidvania that draws from the souls approach in terms of expectation of death and aesthetic.

For an extra castlevania feel, start with a hunter. Whip + subweapon.

The first Dark Souls had elements of Metroidvania as well.

Pay day Friday, games to be bought, Friday night!

Yes..soon I shall be able to play Salt & Sanctuary and Undertale!

I am liking more than Dark Souls as well! Some of my friends think I'm crazy but I think it is a great way to kill some couch time.

Also - couch coop option doubles the fun. Until you accidentally get separated and die off screen without knowing how to get your salt back.

It is very good from the little bit I have played.

I've been trying to get my housemate to make a character, but no dice so far.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Looks like it's PS4 only for now, so no dice for me. Looks interesting and done in an upgraded style akin to The Dishwasher - which I believe was also made by the same studio.

Yerp, alas PC version (the one I need) not quite out yet, guess that means...waiting...booo!

Guess I shall get Undertale from Steam, and play that until the PC version for Salt & Sanctuary does it's thing and releases.

That's annoying when that happens, I know the feeling. I'd like to try undertale, but don't have a computer that could run it.

curses, foiled by technology (that indeed sux Scythia!)

The developers have said that the PC version will be coming this month.

On a positive note, my housemate did finally make a character, although he pointed out another impediment to co-op... I only own one controller. :P

Got a second controller today, and I have to say co-op is pretty fun. I took my housemate on a tour of areas well above his level and got him enough salt for 9lvs.

Interestingly, both players get salt and looted items equally, and the visiting player can use the hosting player's facilities at the host's devotion level.

Also items can be dropped to be taken by the other, so save powerful gear that you won't use in order to share if you plan to co-op.

Another co-op tip: Prayers (cleric spells) seem to affect both players. My main is a Paladin, so I got some cleric skills to get access to the mend (heal) prayer. It's decent boss fight healing.

Can't wait for this release on PC, hoping a good friend of mine will pick it up too, for coop time. (we play a bunch of coop anyway, so I bet that will be a yes).

Co-op bug warning:
At least on the PS4 version, if you are a guest in co-op and your host picks up a key you don't have yet, you won't get the key. This is intended. The bug is that when you return to your world, you still won't get the key if you reach it's location and loot it. You will forever be barred from having that key... Which can keep you from progressing into further areas.

Your co-op partner can unlock doors in your world though, so there is a workaround.

Noted, thanks for the warning, though barring strangeness, we should both have it on PC (when it exists anyway, hopefully my buddy will be done with his PC rebuild before then) :)

Hoping if that bugs exists in PC version, they patch it before final release.

A co-op tactics suggestion:
Flanking helps, especially for bosses. You can use the evasive roll to get past an enemy, then you and your ally can attack from both sides. Some enemies shield block, and some bosses can have attacks interrupted. Both are doable with flanking.

I've actually felt bad for some bosses... I use a giant meat tenderizer, my housemate uses a big sword. Diced and pulverized.

Say hello to my largish friend!

The co-op key bug I mentioned before only affects keys (or any key item) found in bags, not keys or items from boss loot.

Also, fun news, the level doesn't cap at 99 or 100. :)

There's a NG+ mode after you finish the game, you keep items, levels, and devotion unlocks. Creatures are tougher but rewards are bigger.

Also, there's two weapon styles that are dominant in the game. I won't say which unless asked because I'm curious to hear if other players reach the same conclusion. One style is the best early game, the other is the best late game. There are two nearly worthless styles as well. :P

Ahh trap options, duck and cover! ;)

Sadly neither is water balloon. :P

My housemate discovered the level cap: 549, oddly.

I know 99 is an intuitive level cap, and 255 is a hexadecimal based level cap, but I've never seen 549 before.
