Myriana question (spoilers)

Rise of the Runelords

My players just finished off Barl and company. They'll be taking Lamatar's body back to Myriana when next we meet. I'm slightly stuck on how to give out her Inspiration. The AE book says to gice it to a Bard or the highest Charisma character. We have a Bard cohort, with a Sorcerer having the highest Charisma. Thoughts on which of the 2 characters to give the boon to? The Bard is the cohort to the Sorcerer, so the boon will benefit the same player, regardless.

In general such things should flow to the player characters, not hirelings, secondaries, groupies and the like. Was the bard critical to the party's success recovering Lamatar? In play would it be hard for an outsider to tell which character was the cohort? Indicating the player focuses on each equally? Unless there's an obvious reason to favor the bard (based on play and contribution not fit for class) it should go to a pc. (All that is my opinion of course - there's no "rule" here that I know of.)

A couple suggestions: do not reveal that the boon is specifically nymph inspiration which will keep your players (with game mastery and a min/max twitch) from questioning why it didn't go to the bard. Consider altering the boon to fit your group. Which pc did the most to recover Lamatar? This may or may not be an easy judgement pending how your group works. Is there an unsung hero in the group? Someone that does the dirty work without a lot of glory? Here a chance for you to give that player a little limelight. Another example: did I notice in the obituary thread that one of the pc's died fighting Barl? How about resurrecting that character?

Resurrecting the dead PC is a good thought. I was toying with the idea of Myriana teleporting them back to the coast anyway. Maybe I'll force them to make a choice, since she only has a little magic left in this world... <evil DM laughter>

I had Myrriana give her boon to the half-orc alchemist with an 8 Charisma because he was the most kind-hearted of the bunch and actually expressed concern about fixing the problem in the Shimmerglens. It made more sense to me than giving it to the selfish Dark Tapestry oracle.

After a couple people were blinded the first time entering the glade, the only person willing to go in was the low Cha Fighter, so he got the boon by default.
