I'm running a Runelords/Shattered Star mash-up campaign and the PC's are on their way from the Lady's Light (south of Magnimar) to Korvosa - I also worked in Seven Days to the Grave as part of the overall campaign - and they will be passing through Whistledown. I haven't played, GM'ed or read the scenario but I was thinking of picking it up as a side quest. For those who have been through it, how do you think it would stand alone as part of a larger campaign?

It'd be a little hard to justify without running the other parts, since the McGuffin of the scenario is one of three McGuffins the Society is looking to bring together. If you replace the McGuffin with something related to your campaign, though, it could work. Still, there's going to be a random bit of Osiriani flavor in there.

It's a decent little scenario. I'd just change he dungeon into a newly opened Thassilonian one and maybe replace some of the morhgs and vampires with different types of undead. The problem with the scenario is that high cr undead in Bestiary 1 are mostly status based and inflict nasty rider effects with their attacks. In the worst case you'll leave Whistledown with a few corpses not because it's a particularily hard adventure, but because of the rider effects.
It's your group though, you'll know them best! My CotCT group(hey Rei!) was nearly toasted by vampire spawn.

Even ignoring the MacGuffin, if the party is one that would go out of their way to help a community in crisis it could work pretty well. And hey, you can leave the Thing in, and use it as a possible side quest for them. But as a one shot it should work pretty well, and the stuff that might not fit in with what you're doing should be pretty easily reflavored into something that makes more sense for what you're doing.
