Adjusting difficulty for a party of six

Reign of Winter

I'm running a group through this and they have just cleared the first floor of the pale tower. I started by just maxing the HP of the enemies but have found that this doesn't seem to cut it. When it's 6 on 1, it doesn't matter that he has more HP they seem to pummel everything.

Next I started adding an extra low level guy or two and found that makes a much bigger impact. Even if they one shot (which they often do) them, it's taking the attention of the harder guy who can last more than 1 round.

I've also kept them behind in levels. It states they should be third level by the time they reach Waldsby, but they've surpassed that and cleared the first floor of the tower all at level two.

Should I grant them level three now? Has anyone run through this with a party of six? How did you adjust accordingly?

Here is my advice. It's not specific to RoW, but you should be able to apply the same basic principles. I have seven players now and I'm still using these guidelines.

Thanks for the quick turn around Skeld, this is pretty close to what I am doing now. I've also employed the use of Hero Points so that in case I ramp up the difficulty a little too much it allows them some freedom to work through the challenges.

You're welcome. We use hero points also. My players tend to use them as a "get out of death free" card.
