Quite a while ago friends told me that there were many versions of Dune.
This was way before the Sci Fi channel put their version on the air.
I got shown two versions, the one with the intro from the Emperor's Daughter and the more detailed version with all the drawings.
At that time I thought they were pretty much the same.
Recently, I got the blu-ray of Dune (first version).
I then saw part of the other one on BBC America. I quickly noticed that there were differences in what was shown on screen.
I would like to get that version of the movie.
Does anyone know if that version will show up differently when I try to order it?
Thanks

The extended version is likely what you are seeking.
The backstory is that the director wanted to make the film even longer than the extended version, there were a lot of details in the book after all. The extended version was made, yet not released to theaters because the producer felt it was overly long and dull. He said cut out an hour and make it move like gangbusters - the result is a movie that skips details that will lose a disinterested audience. That version made it into theater. The extended version was released later for TV and rental - as long as you were seeking the extended rather than standard version.

I will try looking up the extended version. I always like the extended/deleted scenes of a movie. They tend to tell more of the intended story.
As I said I saw the Scifi version and I think it was supposed to be more like the book. (since it was a mini series) By that time I had read a couple of the books.

Well, I found it and I didn't.
Amazon doesn't have a bluray of the extended version in stock.
They have something through another party and this extended version costs $133.
I'm not going to spend that. I checked around at other stores online like FYE and no one has it in stock.
It's not important. It's not like I'm missing out on anything. So I'm not going to worry about this.
