Kobold Catgirl |

Huge and weird, and vaguely froglike in shape, the beast has four writhing tentacles in place of front legs. Its two heads are mostly mouth, and those mouths are mostly teeth. A retractable stalk protrudes from the front of each head, at the end of which stare three bulbous eyes. The massive thing is a dark green save for its belly, which is pale. Powerful tongues tipped with barbs loll wetly from its gaping maws.
Madteeth lets out two saliva-filled, ear-splitting roars, squinting against the sudden bright light.

Madteeth the Hungry, captured from the wreckage within the Barrier Peaks, was my way of adjusting for a very powerful six-person party. With such a large group—including a summoner—I knew I needed something with a bit more punch into the action economy. I don't use XP in my game, so I don't know her CR.
Party Makeup:
Human Slayer 7/Horizon Walker 1
Undine (ex-tiefling) Alchemist 7/Gunslinger 1
Human Summoner 8
Human Sacred Fist Warpriest 6/Godling 2
Human Bard 8
Half-Orc Cleric 7/Soul Warden 1
How It Went:
In the first round of combat, the slayer and a summoned elemental rushed into the fray. The warpriest hung back, wishing to keep buffing himself. Madteeth responded by shredding the elemental and grappling the slayer (the slayer would have died had Madteeth not focused first on killing the elemental). This was a bit beyond what I had expected—I'd been hoping Madteeth's attacks would be split between at least three attackers, but the warpriest seemed unwilling to close into melee.
The next round, the summoner brought in a cerberi and the warpriest entered melee. The slayer was totally trapped and getting brutally constricted. The froghemoth proved to have Combat Reflexes, badly hurting the cerberi, but the cleric ignored this and tried to use a Heal scroll on the grappled slayer. Her Copycat ability absorbed the AoO, and she was successful. Madteeth responded by swallowing the slayer whole and grabbing the bard.
Eben gasps in shock as Farrukh vanishes down Madteeth's gullet. "She's eating him!" he says, redundantly. He gasps in even further horror as her tongue wraps around his leg and drags him inches from her slavering maw. "And then she's going to eat me! Oh my gooooooooodddddds!"
The third round, the slayer cuts himself out, to the glee of the crowd, leaving Madteeth with about 1 HP. The bard starts hacking and the warpriest full attacks, landing a critical hit. Madteeth goes down by 138 points.
All-in-all, the combat was higher-pressure than I was expecting, but Madteeth's bad tactics allowed her to get pretty crazy. The summoner was filled with uncommon righteous fury at his buffs being allowed to run down, and the bard proceeded to conjure up a huge illusion of the dead Lahaka to make it seem as though her ghost was haunting the arena.
It was a fun encounter, and definitely worth the extra effort—normal Madtooth wouldn't have stood a chance.
