New to Online Play...HELP!

Online Play

Due to life factors it will be nearly impossible to make it to the regular PFS sessions held at game stores going forward...thus I really want to get involved with the online play.

I've read posts and blogs and watched videos on setting up macros, but I am just wondering how do I just create my character sheets in roll20. Do I have to have a plus account? I have created a GM session, but I have no idea once I sign up for a session how I get my character information there...

I understand this must be so exceedingly simple as I can't find a clear explanation for it, but if someone could point me in the direction it would be MUCH appreciated!

Game on.

Howdy! Welcome to Online Play.

On Roll20.net - For pre-made character sheets, you will need a Plus or Pro account. You then get access to the "Character Vault" feature which allows you to save character sheets on your own account that can then be imported into other campaigns. For the free account you only have access to character sheets a GM adds to a campaign, and then they only exist within that campaign.

A good way to get around this if you don't want to pay for the upgraded account (which probably isn't worth it unless you plan to GM online a bunch) is to just make macros for your character and save them in an Excel sheet or text document. You will have to add them in for each new game you play, but will be able to just copy and paste them. Most times people in VTT games don't ask to see character sheets unless you are doing something that sounds like it might not be legal, even then any digital copy is fine.

A couple good guides on macro creation can be found here and here.

Great, thanks all. Had my first session last night and it was a very fun time. Figured out most of the macro stuff beforehand.
