Anyone got any tips, tricks, suggestions about running demos or games of PACG at a convention?

1-0A can be used as a demo script; look inside the PDF. Read over the script and know it well.

Other than that, do the proper preparations - if you can get a local store or something to help with having a box or two, that would be swell. If the store's signed up to the program, they should already have a base set box from Paizo.

I should probably talk to Tanis about a full blog post depicting how to prepare for a convention.

Having run PACG/PFSACG at a con recently, I have a little insight about this.

Are you well versed with Organized Play? I ask that because of the stuff you use with OP: chronicle sheets, character sheets, deck lists and reporting sheets. That and reserving PFS numbers. Are you working with a local Venture Officer? He/she can help with setting up the event and reserving numbers and reporting the sessions. Also they can get promo cards and/or boons to hand out (from Paizo). (Boons usually require multiple sessions and turn in tickets or tokens to get them.)

But before I go too far, zeroth is correct that the demo is a way to introduce people to the game but it doesn't provide much depth nor allow a player to grow a character. (Make sure you have several mini-chronicle sheets available.) I ran only one demo session over several sessions. And that was a person that didn't want to run the entire game and try it out to see if they liked it.

Equipment: the game mat is an excellent accessory; I'd recommend one per table if you think you'll have more than one table playing. You'll need (required) one box per table along with the character add-on deck and the first couple of adventure decks. Dice, lots of dice. If you're running OP (scenarios), I recommend having one of each class deck available for players to test while playing. And all those play sheets from above. And pencils. Plus having a printed rulebook and OP guide for each table, too.

For you, water, sucking candy/throat lozenges, hand sanitizer. After talking a lot, you'll need the first two.

The advantage of running the game as organized play is trifold. First, it is easy to reset the box between sessions. The character decks don't have to be put back in the box because they're separate. Second, if people like the game, they can take their character and buy a class deck and play at their local game store. Third, they can come back in later sessions and continue with their character with relative ease. Tier advancement allows for this.

For the most part, this is a good start. Hawkmoon269 has created accessories on BoardGameGeek that are helpful as well like his standees. They're a nice addition.
