If a character plays a pregen in Adventure 4, they have to start with a Tier 3 pregen (with no role card). However, the role card is granted on finishing Adventure 3, not starting Adventure 4.
So if a character plays a Tier 3 pregen starting Adventure 4, she'll never be able to get a role card.
That seems wrong.

Looking at the rules and looking at the pre-gens, I'd have to agree. In fact, the Tier 3 pre-gens are base Tier 3. And the Role is attached to the completion of Adventure 3 (along with an extra Power feat).
And in thinking about this, if someone does not complete Adventure 3, they are out the Role as well.
So I'd say we need errata in the Tier Advancement that says:
If a character is moving from Tier 3 to Tier 4 after completing a scenario in Adventure 4, and that character does not already have a Role, then that character may choose an available role at that point.
This would cover both situations along with not allowing a character that's advanced to Tier 4 while playing Adv 3 to gain a role.

Ooh, a puzzle! Cool!
Okay... let's assume the absolute worst, and say we're playing a character, starting at 1st level, that is jumping between S&S and Wrath.
0-1A through 0-1D: completed tier 1, move on to tier 2
0-1E and F, 1-1A and B: completed tier 2, move on to tier 3
1-2A through 1-2D: completed tier 3, gain your role card, move on to tier 4.
So you could theoretically begin playing with your role card before you even start the 1-3 adventure. Too early? Probably. I'd say maybe Theryon's way is better, in that case.
EDIT: Ninja'd! Plus I had it wrong. LOL

Yeah, sorry - I realized it was a little silly for me (of all people) to pose the question, so I did the math a little later. I think the most efficient way is to do 9 scenarios. 1-1A-1D complete tier 1, 1-1E finish adventure to tier 3, then 1-2A-2D to bump tier, then go play 3A with your Role card (though really I think the AD2 benefit is worth sticking around for!)
At any rate, Tanis and I discussed the need to get Roles into the next OP guide, but since it wasn't already we added it to AD3. Since it only has 4 scenarios anyways _and_ I was okay with more people (experiencing / being subjected) to Dave Gross's characters, I didn't feel too guilty there.
I know _I_ didn't consider pregens starting as tier 3 in AD4, though. On the plus side, they could go back and still play AD3 at that point. But it's a pretty darn good point, so hopefully this can be addressed in a best manner.
