I won't oversell or over explain this; I wrote a setting a long time ago for a game company that no longer publishes material.
Instead of trashing the whole thing, I want to share it both to refine it and sharpen my skills, and contribute to a great creative community. Please follow the link to my free setting, and feel free to tell me what you think.
5e Free Fantasy Setting: Diem Mundi
Though there is nothing specifically 5th edition about it yet, I will be posting new races and some other fun material related to this setting. Likely before the end of the week.

I would say less steampunk, more gaslamp fantasy (similar to Girl Genius). I really want to dig into the magitech empire, since they are really at the cutting edge of what technology will eventually be.
The premise posits that as magic permeates the world, it likewise permeates the physics of the world. As a result, technology MUST use the principals of magic to do what we might do with simple mechanics and chemistry. It's a work in progress, but I am really hopeful to turn out something interesting and relatively unique.
But you also have many places in the world that are so "backwards" and spiritual that they reject these principals altogether, especially with the stigma that there is against it, for many reasons both good and bad.
But no on rocketships, yes on just about everything else.

I LOVE the idea of scientists using magic, and magicians using science, and magic NOT shorting out science or electronics or internal combustion engines.
I'm currently working on a homebrew campaign with floating islands held aloft by a combination of hydrogen balloon-producing plants and a physical force similar antigravity, but weaker, so it only really affects truly massive items, like floating islands, and keeps the islands from crashing into the ocean below or other islands. For the most part.

Science needs magic to work. It's like trying to make an airplane without understanding thermodynamics. Except that it's... thermodyMAGICS
But magic needs science, and arguably is science, outside of sorcerer wild talents and what have you. Wizards cannot codify and understand magic without a scientific method.
But of course it makes for an interesting backdrop when there is a failure to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of science and magic due to generational dogma and superstition from both sides. But that's the general idea, anyhow.
Kal Dorians are pioneers in the truest sense. Not unlike many pioneers, they also don't care what they tread upon to make progress.
Now I want to write an essay on that... hmm...

Another Sub-Race, and a bonus adventure location
And to preface any queries, I wanted for the new sub-race to be able to excel at being a cleric or a lore bard if they chose, and their racial abilities seemed to tie well to their racial tendencies towards being archivists. But maybe I'm over explaining myself...

Thanks for the suggestion. I may just do so, and I have a few ideas.
Does my fox folk work at all for your purposes? I meant to point you to my fox folk write up, and I did see your comment about them needing to have a long life span.
I took someone else's fox folk and adjusted them for my campaign, and I would encourage you to do the same. I am trying to write up some kind of explanation for how fox folk, kitsune in particular, can attain a sort of enlightenment that would extend their life span, and perhaps grant more tails along the way. I would want the players of such characters to be able to earn that, but have a relatively clear path.
So far it's almost looking like I could write a source book just on the fox folk. I've got some archetypes in the works for them as I speak.
Anyhow, I hope that I've given you something to work from, if nothing else.
@ SmiloDan, thank you. My big anxiety was over mentioning lore college bards, while having their ability score increase be specifically Intelligence. I want it to be an option, and I saw those feats, and it felt like a natural fit. I just hope that nobody cries foul in the name of balance or anything, but I felt like the feats were suitably ribbon-esque in their granted bonuses to justify the choosing of your ability score bonus.

For a nogitsune... I'm trying to figure out what direction to go for it. I definitely want to paint it as something that can happen to any fox folk, and have it be something of a negative transformation of sorts, but I don't know if I should go full on monster stat block on it, or if I should go for a sub-race write up, or both.
Would a malevolent (even just mean spirited) fox folk be something that people would want to play as a character?

Mythical creatures guide: Kitsune
In the original mythology, most Kitsune serve the kami known as Inari, but on the otherhand, Nogitsune are independent and usually self-serving.
In the context of a fantasy game, they would probably just be the obligatory shadow subrace. Tenebrous/Caligines type stuff. In PF, you could make one by combining all the stats and abilities of a Kitsune with the all of the stats and abilities of a Drow (excluding abilities that are shared with normal elves)

No new races or anything, but that will come soon. Part 5 should have Dragon Folk sub-races, as well as a treatise on the Orcs of Selna, and maybe a few new monsters.
Also, I updated the Fox Folk section in Part 2 with a section on their society, if anyone cares to have a look.
Hopefully I can organize the collected work on the Diem Mundi page of my blog soon. I just wish I was better at layout...
